Team spirit & the Southampton way

If there is a team in our division with a better one then ill give £1k to charity. Was great to see them celebrating the goal together then celebrating the win together at the end. The new boys seem to be part of it all too which is great to see.

What with 4 academy players starting today and 3 of them still teenagers then you have to say that whatever the Southampton way is its definitely working.

The new boys seem to have settled in with the rest of the squad too. Lovren in particular looks a very strong character. Also having 4 players that have come up through the ranks on the pitch really makes me feel proud. Exciting times, maybe that "New Barcelona" tag has some substance ;)

Has someone hacked Turkish's account? ;)

Seriously though, the whole team look close and I reckon the longer pre-season away helped bring the new lads into the fold. Dejan looks like he is considering adopting Shaw and it's all a bit of a love fest. The trick is keeping that going when we lose.

Crikey, even Turkish is finally buying into it!

I have to say the players reactions today show a lot. It was always a worry that when we were trying to push on for the next level our big money players might not have the same affinity with the rest of the squad (or the club as a whole) as the old guard do. But Lovren is well into it, and the way Wanyama reacted when Lambert slammed that penalty home was amazing.

I think Wanyama in particular would have been surprised at just how loud/passionate our fans were today.

I think bringing in only a couple of players in the window helps keep the team spirit. If you ring the changes and have 6/7/8 new players to settle in then you will struggle to really integrate everyone into the team, eventually causing cliques.

If the rumors come true and we land a big name player before the window closes, I only hope they too will get on board with the "Southampton Way".

Indeed - but we weathered the storm last season and it would be quite remarkable if we went on a run that bad again. I have every faith in our group to stick together and work for each other, which is great.

Absolutely loved the celebrations from the new signings today, right in there with the academy boys and Rickie.

As mentioned above, didn't have a problem keeping everyone happy last season.
