Ohio Saint Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 It really wasn't the snake's day!! getting decapitated, and then bitten by a venomous snake!
Lighthouse Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I vaguely remember a story, I think it was from the French revolution when they were lopping the heads off the aristocracy, where a few blokes were getting the guillotine. Apparently one of them held a grudge against the previous guy who had been executed and when his head fell into the basket he bit the other guy on the nose.
Shroppie Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 A French doctor being guillotined as a final experiment told his assistant to watch his eyes as he would continue blinking as long as he could. He blinked something like 18 times.
Marsdinho Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 A French doctor being guillotined as a final experiment told his assistant to watch his eyes as he would continue blinking as long as he could. He blinked something like 18 times. According to the researchers on QI, that isn't true.
scotty Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 There was a case where the guillotinee was insulted and slapped on the cheek by one of his enemies following decapitation, the face frowned and turned red with anger. Some guys, eh.
Shroppie Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 According to the researchers on QI, that isn't true. Another myth busted then.

hutch Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 According to the researchers on QI, that isn't true. Shouldn't be too difficult to prove one way or the other

Saint Mikey Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 haha, have you been taking history lessons from Karl Pilkington? "Blink twice for yes and once for no!" Exactly what I was going to say! Plus, didn't he walk along a white line according to him?!
Whitey Grandad Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Morbidly curious. There's a bit at the bottom of this article about a motor accident which is a bit disturbing: http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1172/does-the-head-remain-briefly-conscious-after-decapitation
Saint in Paradise Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Watch this video:- from about the 5.00 minute to about 7.00 minutes. He talks about the execution of Anne Boleyn - here eyes kept moving and so did her lips for several seconds. Whitey Grandad first posted the first of the set of these videos and I still watch them from time to time they are really excellent.
