Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 Anyone else watching it via iPad today? Watched the Man Utd game earlier on and watching the Arse game now, quality of the stream is not great. Could this be to do with the Egyptian servers? Keeps dropping out and picture is akin to the free streams we used to watch last season, not the HD kind we have been used to
ChudSaint Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 Had to disable my Overplay smartDNS and install Hola today to get it working today Has anybody come up with a good reason to use Overplay and not Hola yet? My monthly Overplay is due to expire in a couple of days and as I've not got it working on PS3 yet and would rarely watch on IPad I'm considering not renewing... Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 I only use it on my iPad so I need overplay sadly but not very impressed today. I think the servers they use in Egypt are running incredibly slowly so I get about 5-10 seconds of poor quality visual then the Quicktime player loading screen constantly. I can still hear the sound but cannot see the picture. Frustrating as hell. I have emailed Overplay to see what they suggest but I only have one working server address for Egypt (from the 4 they have given me) and the quality of the picture on this one is ****e

Tractor_Saint Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 Hola fixes it. I wonder if AJS have blocked Overplay proxies? Still a great feed for the Arsenal game. Also good to see all the prem league goals go in on HD6 as they cut over to the other games.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 Hola fixes it. I wonder if AJS have blocked Overplay proxies? Still a great feed for the Arsenal game. Also good to see all the prem league goals go in on HD6 as they cut over to the other games. My email back from support at Overplay reads as follows: "At present aljazeerasport isn't supported. We're investigating into it from our end. There is currently some issues ongoing with the internet backbone where our servers are located in Egypt. We're investigating alternatives for rerouting around the problems at present. However, we do not have an ETA on it.... blah blah blah" So looks like it could be an Overplay issue which isn't good. I have turned on my second (unreliable) laptop and starting to use Hola which is working fine. Shame you cant use Hola on the iPad!

S-Clarke Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 Not had any luck what so ever today. Overplay is not working, and I doubt it ever will again for this site - sounds like they've cottoned on. Also Hola simply won't work for me. Installed, set it to Egypt, go to login to the aljazera site - ''You have exceeded your login attempts''. Brilliant. So I contact the site, only to be told I don't have an account with them. If I turn off Hola and I'm seen as UK, it let's me login ok but obviously all streams are geo blocked. Me thinks the ISP's have cottoned onto it. It was good whilst it lasted. Now back to look for crappy streams!
Tractor_Saint Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 Are you trying to log in from your original machine? For some reason I can only log in from the laptop I registered my account with. I've just bought a new laptop and tried to get that to work but exceeded logins etc. They reset it really quickly so I went back to the other laptop and all is working (through Hola not Overplay). Suggest you try to get it reset again via their site.

Even though I can log in to it if Hola isn't running. Probably my ISP has cottoned onto it.
Valesaint Posted 14 September, 2013 Share Posted 14 September, 2013 (edited) I am having problems logging in today as it is saying that my Egyptian VPN is not supported. I cannot find anywhere to cancel my Al Jazeera account on the IPad. I need this so I can upgrade to a season pass if I decide to carry on with it. I assume that I can cancel through PayPal. Their response: Hello, Thank you for contacting OverPlay.net We regret the inconvenience you have experienced due to some technical difficulties. Could you please login to your OverPlay account, click on "SmartDNS" tab to re-activate the SmartDNS service for your IP address at: http://overplay.net/s You will need to wait up to 60 seconds for it to take effect, then please clear your web browser cache and cookies then retry accessing the Al Jazeera Sport website and see if that works fine for you. If you are still unable to access Al Jazeera Sport with our SmartDNS service, please help us with the device/Operating system you are using. lnb203 Posted 20 September, 2013 Share Posted 20 September, 2013 No luck recently with either Hola or Smart DNS. Looks like this gravy train has crashed. Gutted, it was a top service, much more comprehensive than crap like SKY and BT etc. On Saturday I will therefore be watching Soton on some jerky, highly pixelated, ad filled dodgy stream, while my pals who live in Hong Kong and USA (etc) will be watching in glorious HD. Bit of a joke that in order to gain access to all the English premiership matches one needs to emigrate from England.

If Sky or Virgin offered every premier league game online for £15 a month pretty much every household would snap it up so they wouldn't be losing money I'm sure.
