Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Author Posted 15 August, 2013 Think this is now dead in the water Col. Everyone has been out shopping today and will all be wearing Lambert 20 England shirts in Protest instead We're digging in for the long haul, don't you worry.
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I'm boycotting your campaign but I'm going to buy a t-shirt anyway. By the way are you planning to wear them to games?

stug76 Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I thought it would be stripier. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 4
Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Author Posted 15 August, 2013 I'm boycotting your campaign but I'm going to buy a t-shirt anyway. By the way are you planning to wear them to games? Yes. Certainly not wearing the new kit, that's staying in the wardrobe with the rest of the collection.... never to see daylight again.
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Yes. Certainly not wearing the new kit, that's staying in the wardrobe with the rest of the collection.... never to see daylight again. So you spent £50 on a football shirt you are never going to wear? May I ask, why?
Appy Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Yes. Certainly not wearing the new kit, that's staying in the wardrobe with the rest of the collection.... never to see daylight again. Now that is odd.
Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Author Posted 15 August, 2013 So you spent £50 on a football shirt you are never going to wear? May I ask, why? I collect them. I am only one shirt shy of owning an example of every replica home shirt since I've been alive. If anyone knows of an original air florida shirt for sale in good condition let me know. Lets face it, if it wasn't for my interest in them then I probably wouldn't have cared about the design change.
lloydie Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Wow. This is definately mongboardery at its very finest!
Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Author Posted 15 August, 2013 (edited) At least this hasn't erupted into full blown abuse yet! Where's "CB Fry" when you need him..... Edited 15 August, 2013 by Colinjb

Well not because of tradition but because you collect shirts.
Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Author Posted 15 August, 2013 So you actually care if they are stripes or not? Yes, I would like to actually identify the shirts we wear as being in traditional colours. Don't let my compulsive behaviour fool you! Better to up front about these things from day one rather then have it hidden. Just surprised i'm the only one who actually has tried to make the majority desire to see our kit as stripes more visible.
dubai_phil Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Doh, Bloody Eric PM'ing me SRL Porn all day - All clear now Colin
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Yes, I would like to actually identify the shirts we wear as being in traditional colours. Don't let my compulsive behaviour fool you. Well it has Colin.
Turkish Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Colin. Would you say wearing your Save our stripes t shirt would damage the club? I know you are worried about doing this.
Maggie May Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Judging by the build of the majority of blokes who buy Saints related merchandise, you'd have been better off painting stripes on one of those rhino sculptures, pal.
JPTCount Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 lol why wouldnt the t shirt just be red and white stripes?
Turkish Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 lol why wouldnt the t shirt just be red and white stripes? Even the save our stripes protest shirt is plain.
Batman Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Even the save our stripes protest shirt is plain. Secretly loves the plain shirt
hypochondriac Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 I'm confused. Does Colin secretly love the shirt? I presume he does which is why he has created the most mongy protest possible whilst failing to do the one thing that would actually make even a tiny difference (not buying the shirt.)
Saint_clark Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 lol why wouldnt the t shirt just be red and white stripes? Originally they asked for this, but it was printed horizontally.
niceandfriendly Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 I admire you, Colin, for getting off your backside and doing something. You've created something here and for that you can be very proud. However, I don't think they're gonna sell, nobody is gonna be interested, you don't even fully support the campaign yourself as you bought the non-striped kit, it's not gonna make any money, Cortese will do whatever he wants with regards to the shirt anyway...and an investor isn't gonna see a return on their investment in their lifetime. So for those reasons, regretfully I have to say, I'm out.
Barry Sanchez Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Judging by the build of the majority of blokes who buy Saints related merchandise, you'd have been better off painting stripes on one of those rhino sculptures, pal. I agree, we have some of the worst looking fans out there in the star system, best? Too many cheap pies for some or too much camembert for others.....................
Brave Sir Robin Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Aw bless! Time to move on. Stripes are dead, the future's Red!
Hatch Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 I admire you, Colin, for getting off your backside and doing something. You've created something here and for that you can be very proud. SaintBobby Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 I was thinking of spending £12 in the megastore, if I spend £12 on this T-shirt instead, will that damage the club? :-)
Wes Tender Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 It just looks very cheap IMO and also pretty expensively priced for a very ordinary plain white T shirt with a single colour advert. So one screen only and a T shirt costing under £2 to buy wholesale and lots of lovely lolly into the pockets of creativemidfielder, with the sales sweetener of the £3 donation to the Saints Foundation and the Saints connection to entice buyers. So it calls into question the motives of the campaign, whether it is to garner support for the return of stripes, or to make money using the campaign as an excuse. I wouldn't expect many to buy it at that price for something that looks so amateurish.

So for those reasons, regretfully I have to say, I'm out. Well, at least the first sentence was reasonably positive. Frankly, the focus on me personally rather then the point of the campaign is a shame. Particularly from people who do want a return to our traditional colours. Am I the right person to front up something along these lines? Probably not in fairness. It has however astounded me that no-one, and I mean, no-one else, despite the moaning and disappointment when the shirt design was released hasn't tried to focus this and make the desire for the stripes to remain to be more visible. It was a hope of mine that based on the obvious numbers that did want this that the campaign would snowball from the initial effort I made, this obviously isn't happening. Regarding the T-Shirt design itself, that was chosen after a vote on a some member submitted designs was held on the Save our stripes facebook page. As was the nominated charity. No-one is forcing people to buy them it was however a logical way of keeping things visible. Do I feel proud? How I feel is irrelevant. This should be about something the majority of fans want. Obviously people don't care. It was evidently a mistake on my part to try.
Turkish Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Colin. I'll ask you again, do you think wearing one of your t-shirts to a match is damaging to the club?
Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2013 Author Posted 17 August, 2013 Colin. I'll ask you again, do you think wearing one of your t-shirts to a match is damaging to the club? No. It's a visible way of showing a desire to return to stripes whilst also making a £3 donation to charity. It's a harmless reminder to the powers that be of a desire for change.
Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2013 Author Posted 17 August, 2013 Why? The focus is on my behaviour rather then the desire of a return to stripes. I was never the right person to start something like this and no-one else was motivated to do so. That should have told me all I needed to know.
CB Fry Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Obviously people don't care. It was evidently a mistake on my part to try. You could have "tried" not to spunk fifty quid on a new shirt at the first opportunity. But you didn't try. You capitulated immediately.
shurlock Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Colin. I'll ask you again, do you think wearing one of your t-shirts to a match is damaging to the club? Nik Nak couldn't put it better himself. CoC.
Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2013 Author Posted 17 August, 2013 You could have "tried" not to spunk fifty quid on a new shirt at the first opportunity. But you didn't try. You capitulated immediately. Come on CB Fry, you want a return to stripes as much as anyone yet you focus on me!! Congratulations, you've won. The campaign is over.
Turkish Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 No. It's a visible way of showing a desire to return to stripes whilst also making a £3 donation to charity. It's a harmless reminder to the powers that be of a desire for change. Is it harmless though? It's an outward display of distant at a decision made by the club. What is the aim of making and selling t-shirts? What if 1000 people decide to buy them and all wore them today? Would that still be harmless? Or is it just a one man crusade to being back stripes?
Turkish Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Nik Nak couldn't put it better himself. CoC. You're developing a rather strange obsession with me.
Bananaman Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 if you are making a profit from these.. and have bought this season shirt; does this mean that these t-shirts are indirectly funding the purchasing of a plain Saints replica shirt?

Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2013 Author Posted 17 August, 2013 if you are making a profit from these.. and have bought this season shirt; does this mean that these t-shirts are indirectly funding the purchasing of a plain Saints replica shirt? I personally made no profit from this. The only money of any type being made was by Cultzeroes/Creativemidfielder.co.uk who helped getting the shirts onto the market. It was decided that any profit should be waived in favour of a charitable donation.

Turkish Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Relax, it no longer matters. I'm relaxed, as always. So have you thrown the towel in? Given up? No belief in your convictions? It's a good job Noah didn't quit when a few people Questions his motives otherwise he'd have never built the ark and the human race would have been wiped out.
