Saint-Armstrong Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I'd like to start the motion to update the banner. A recent Lambert picture, or can he be the first to have one with an England shirt on? Awesome celebration pictures knocking about.
DuncanRG Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 (edited) Or is that too animated compared to the others? EDIT: For a recent non-celebration one. Edited 14 August, 2013 by DuncanRG
tpbury Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I've often thought it needed updating, as he looks a pit porky in the current pic.
Ajv2809 Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I agree. Banner does look very out of date and is in desperate need of an update.
St.Jeweller Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I've always felt there's room for 3 or 4 more legends to the right of Lambo as well, just to fill that open space.
The9 Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I think a pic of him in his first Saints season sums up his longevity nicely, and it should only be changed for one of him in an England shirt.

Ajv2809 Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 A whole new design is needed. Something that reflects the forward momentum of the club.
Olallana Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Surely he is still more a Saints legend than an England legend?????
OldNick Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Big Ron derserves to on the banner more than Shilts and Keegan
Chez Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I still wonder why Keegan and Shilton are selected ahead of someone like Nick Holmes. Shilton is a Forest man for me and Keegan much more associated with Liverpool and Newcastle.
Whitey Grandad Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 There's not enough room for all of them. How about a rotation now and then?

ant Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Hmm, have been pondering for a while what we could do with refresh of that top banner. Will mock something up at lunch and if it comes out well I'll share it.

lifeintheslowlane Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Yeah I hate to say it but both Keegan and Shilts aren't synonymous with Saints as are Big Ron, Nicky Holmes and Bobby Stokes. I think a review is in order or as has been suggested a rotation.
ART Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Using the Sergent Pepper Cover as a basis we could excel by having a whole lot of legends given homage, not to mention a photo of Lallana dominating it all { haha, I think not }
Restark19 Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 not to mention a photo of Lallana dominating it all { haha, I think not } yawn
Badger Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 No need to update RL - he should remain in a (proper striped) Saints shirt rather than an England shirt. Big Ron - deserves recognition Bobby Stokes should be up there! - This I do agree with. Shilton - no, for me he was an England player who happened to play for us, rather than a Saints player who played for England. KK - I can see both arguments here, a legend elsewhere before and after SFC, and he left us after a fall out with Lawrie, BUT he was an incredible - iconic - signing, and that level is not likely to be repeated so for me, KK should remain.
Chez Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Claus, Dodd and Francis could all be in with a shout appearance and longevity wise, but as none were really my cup of tea perhaps Eric Day, Tommy Traynor or John Sydenham should be considered as they all have even more appearances for Saints. If we are looking for other players for the 80s then Danny Wallace and Jimmy Case would get my vote. Case might miss out due to his Liverpool link, but he feels much more of a Saints than KK. That said I really don't know why Nick Holmes is not included. 543 games for Saints from 72 to 87 and he was a quality player too. A Saints legend.
Barry Sanchez Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Or is that too animated compared to the others? EDIT: For a recent non-celebration one. Fox can do aeroplanes look at me.
ant Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Although I made a start at lunch I think I'd rather do a proper job instead of simply adding or removing players. It'll take longer than first anticipated but bear with me - determined to nail this.
ART Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 yawn How the times have changed. I was once banned for 2 weeks for an identical post. which infringes on the forum rules.
Grey Crab Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I agree. Banner does look very out of date and is in desperate need of an update. Agreed. Most of those players don't even play for Saints anymore.
