Those three -- Osvaldo, Sinclair, and Kouyate -- would be fantastic. With them on board, a top 8 finish would be there for the taking, I reckon. Perhaps, though, Flamini might be worth a look still? On a free (free agent), very experienced at the highest level, can play defensive midfield, full back (did a great job as fb for Arsenal one season), or at a pinch even on the wing. The kind of versatile, seasoned veteran a good tram can always use. Don't know about anyone else, but I'm still a bit concerned about the fb position, and an experienced player who could cover both at need makes sense.

We are unlikely to sign a better forward than Osvaldo.

CB - Kouyate, or Sorenson, although the latter might not be experienced enough, and may be a 'one for the future' type signing. Or Alderweirald from Ajax.

GK - we need another here to rival Boruc for the first team,(Saw a feature that a club - can't recall who- is preparing a £6m bid for Forster at Celtic. So, either him or McCarthy at Reading, perhaps NA would like to take a few of his trusted old guard in part exchange).

Full backs - possibly cover required, but not as necessary as above.

Happy with what we have to be honest but an extra striker option should not dismissed.

I probably need to try one of these computer games to see what everyone is on about. The idea of just keeping buiyng players until you win something still seems a far inferior strategy than geting a coach to improve the players that we have. I'm thinking especially of the likes of Jos, Fonte, Yoshida, Mayuka, Guly and Fox who I think have the potential to be really top rate players but just need to to be coached to cut out those silly mistakes.

I know... ....most won't agree...

I agree that coaching is useful, I don't agree that Fox has the potential to be a really top rate player - or a couple of others in that list either. Now Shaw, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Lallana, yes.

As for "an extra striker option shouldn't be dismissed", that's good, because almost everyone I've seen commenting on the West Brom thread thinks we need one, and the OP on here has suggested two. :)

Banega, Damiao, Bueno and Astori/Sorensen.

That would transform us into top 8 contenders overnight, possibly even European contenders, irrespective of cost.

And we would all be massaging our private areas the next morning.

Would love to sign the names listed above, but I've got a funny feeling that we wont make another signing before the window closes.

I think that if we cant get our main target, we wont bother with an option B or C.

But, to answer the OP, would love Banega to help open up teams that come to SMS and sit back, another quality central def so our 1st choice back pairing is "world class" and another striker as an alternative to Rickie.

Just don't get your hopes up. Inter already seem to be cornering us out of the Osvaldo market. Damiao has well and truly blown us off and Banega has gone very quiet. Lamela - well, now you're talknig but would Roma want to see both him and Osvaldo leave?

Just Osvaldo and I would be delighted. Three quality additions to the starting XI and retaining all our best players. Not too many clubs will achieve that.

This is a very important point, that is of course all too frequently overlooked.

I am guilty of this too, but imagine the furore had we seen Scheiderlin, RL, Cork, or Shaw walk away in June or July.
