Minsk Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 HCDAJFU = He Could Do A Job For Us HCHDAJFU = He Could Have Done A Job For Us (but has now signed for someone else) Two completely different aspects. Incidentally, the Premier League abilities (or lack there of) of players already at Saints would not really fit into either category. That would be something more akin to, IHSGETDAJFUATL (Is He Still Good Enough To Do A Job For Us At This Level). It's amazing how a load of off-topic, trolling, sheite is allowed to remain on threads - and the threads keep going - yet perfectly good debates (not in a 100 plus page thread, less than half of which is anywhere near to the topic) are closed. Good job Mike!!!!!
Minsk Posted 14 August, 2013 Author Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Further to my above, before this also gets locked without any debate as to it's worth, I thought the idea of the HCDAJFU thread was to flag up players posters thought could do a job for us. In other words, ones we should try to sign. This is completely different from discussing the players signed by oue opposition and debating how they would/wouldn't have fitted in at Saints. Saint Garrett Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Yep, no idea why the other ones were locked, would be nice if this one could be kept going. Quite nice to have a decent thread on here without certain individuals derailing them. It will be interesting to see how Vydra gets on at WBA, personally I think he'll score a few goals but not set the world alight, (similar to JRod last season). Will Bony turn out to be more of a Drogba than an Alfonso Alves? I think he'll slot in really well, and will suit Swanseas style. Carroll and Downing wont have particularly suited us IMO but will do ok for WHU. Rat is a good signing. The others that stand out are Hooper who we have been linked with for years, and Wolfswinkel who seems to be a really good buy for Norwich. Think Cardiff have bought well and it will be interesting to see how the young lad Palace brought in from Peterborough gets on. I think we could do with one or two more but can't say I'm unhappy with the players we have brought in, just hope we can get a striker over the line (Osvaldo). Glasgow_Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Give it a rest guys! This can be discussed on the HCDAJFU thread. Its the same old posters re-opening locked threads that is derailing / ruining this forum. Locked.
Brussels Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Also not sure why it was locked. Copied my post below: Bony for me so far. My Dutch league contacts say he will tear up the division. However the last player they felt would do a good job was Steve De Ridder, so Ajax season tickets or no, I'll bide my judgement. Of the others, the best deals were for Migniolet and Coutinho (last window) the rest I'm fairly un excited by (of realistic targets) I also think that Downing at West Ham will do very well, just not for Saints (maybe its just the Stuart Ripley shiver I get). Some players just fit certain clubs.
Saint Garrett Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 The best thing about Downing is that he can cover LB as well. Other than that, not too fussed.
Minsk Posted 14 August, 2013 Author Share Posted 14 August, 2013 I'm certainly not bothered about Chamakh, a bit of a donkey in my opinion. I have never really rated Downing that much, certainly not at international level. Yes, he can have a good game now and then but I don't think he really offers anything we don't have. In fact, he is a typical West Ham signing - relatively high profile and high wages; and I thought they had debt problems?? Come to think of it, are West Ham becoming Liverpool rejects? - Cole, Carroll, Downing - any others??

Son of Bob Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Give it a rest guys! This can be discussed on the HCDAJFU thread. Its the same old posters re-opening locked threads that is derailing / ruining this forum. Locked. It's time to put a stop to these 'under one umbrella' threads like Transfers and HCDAJFU. Most of us don't want to trawl through 125 pages of bickering, wumming, willy waving and trolling just to find one or two interesting lines of conversation. Why don't we just have one massive thread called 'Saints' and we could discuss absolutely everything related to Southampton FC in one place? That would make life easier wouldn't it? Speak for yourself. I think the HCDAJFU is a good place to hold rumours makes it easier to read and it's not like you get hundreds of pages a day it's over a long period of time. Son of Bob Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 And for what it's worth (before this thread gets locked) I would have been more than happy to have signed Hooper. Those saying he's not a 'big enough player' for us anymore are probably the same people that were strangely absent from St Marys during our Premier League leave of absence. If someone's got a nice fat juicy rumour that's ripe for discussion why shouldn't it have it's own thread? So many decent contributions to these 'uber-threads' are lost in the sea of the usual garbage from the usual suspects.

Well I think he's decent but I want us to sign better than him. If we don't manage to get anyone in then, yes, I wish we would have signed him. But I was there on a Tuesday night in Hartlepool. The only reason I read the HCDAJFU thread is to see if there have been any more rumours or links to players. Normally it is at most about three or four pages a day and any of the concrete rumours like Osvaldo have a thread of their own. It's really not difficult to follow. Hatch Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 I couldn't care less if there were 50 different threads a day. Hardly ever look at the HCDAJFU thread , but a page of threads titled ' Mr XXXX might sign' I can scan through and pick the ones that might sound interesting or credible.
