We finally get a decent thread going, without it being hi-jacked by the usual suspects and a MOD goes and locks it, stating, 'it's what should be discussed in the HCDAJFU thread. Yes, the same one that has recently had 3 pages of slagging off Fox, hardly on topic that is it? Yet, the posts remain and the thread is left open.

The thread I am referring to is, of course - http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?46147-Downing-amp-Chamakh-jealous-If-not-then-who-SHOULD-we-have-signed#.UgqS2I0ziSo

To answer the OP on that one, I would have liked:

Soldado

Bony

Van Wolfwinkle

in that order.

But will also be very happy IF we do manage get Osvaldo

At the very least, he could have just moved the thread to the other one rather than just lock it

I've not too many deals where I have immediately thought that we have lost out. As will nearly all signings (and especially from abroad) there is always an element of the unknown until you're well into the season.

Monstrously overrated, going to be awkward this season watching people defend him not being good enough...

Being good enough for what? He's 20 years old and about to play in the Premier League for the first time. He's also an excellent talent and a really good player to watch. Whether he can step up from doing it at Championship level to the top reaches of the PL remains to be seen over the next few seasons, but I think writing him off as "not being good enough" inside his first season is naïve at best.

Agree. Thought he was a show pony against us in the Champ home and away, at the time Lallana looked a far better/ skilful/ game changing player IMO. Actually felt a bit embarrassed for him on Sunday getting robbed every time by the Wigan LB, to imagine having to face RVP/ Giggs etc after fannying about avoiding the early ball only to be easily dispossessed was genuinely cringeworthy.

Fair enough, can only go on what I've seen. Think he's alright but nowhere near Champs league quality and looked genuinely shocking against Wigan (as ineffective as against us to my memory when Fox marked him out of he game(s). Reckon he'll be frustrated this season and not start more than 15 games. Happy to be proved wrong as that'll be good for England.
