pressingon Posted 11 August, 2013 Posted 11 August, 2013 Just got back from a great 4 days at this lovely festival. Did any other Saints attend?
Hamilton Saint Posted 11 August, 2013 Posted 11 August, 2013 Was Richard Thompson there this year? What did you think were the highlights?
miserableoldgit Posted 11 August, 2013 Posted 11 August, 2013 I have always wanted to do this festival. I have always had a great affinity with Fairport even before the crash. I love and adore Sandy Denny. The world lost a lot when she died. "Meet on the Ledge - I'll see you there" Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
pressingon Posted 11 August, 2013 Author Posted 11 August, 2013 Unfortunately no Richard Thompson this year, he's just finished the Americana tour with Wilco, My Morning Jacket and Bob Dylan. Some bands I'd never seen before that really impressed were Edward 11, Danny & The Champions Of The World, Brooke Williams and The Peatbog Faeries, I'm sure there will be lots on youtube. Alice Cooper blew everyone else away on Thursday night and really got the crowd going while Fairport played an impressive 3 hours to close the show last night with guest appearance from Tom Robinson. Great experience helped by lovely weather. Miserableoldgit - put it on your bucketlist.
miserableoldgit Posted 11 August, 2013 Posted 11 August, 2013 Definitely going to! My friend Simon Care play melodeon with Edward II and other bands which include Simon from Fairport. Have always missed Cropredy as it coincides with the end of Sidmouth Folk Week. Will make a special effort next year! Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
trousers Posted 11 August, 2013 Posted 11 August, 2013 I once met Gareth Williams (Cropedy Festival Director) at the Tonder Music Festival in Denmark. True story.

Ashamed to say Edward 11 have somehow passed me by but I'm now in catch up mode and will have to invest in some of their recordings. Strange that I've always intended to do Sidmouth but not made it so far.
