......And yet another thread heads straight to the kingdom of the trolls for no good reason.

I thought it was an interesting read, and a small insight into how his fellow Kenyans will be following his progress.

It was a very good read and a great article.

Interesting that a paper they love to call the daily fail and the daily racist on here seems to be going out of it way to heap praise on us and applaud the multi cultural premier league isn't it.

Please, tell me more. You haven't made many "hilarious" sarcastic posts about an anti-saints agenda, lazy journalism or the daily racist lately.

Its not meant to be hilarious. Don't you think its odd that a paper so many claim is racist is praising black Africans and applauding a League of Nations?

His through pass for Spiderman's goal yesterday was outstanding. Promises a lot this man. So far so good... !

Yep, I saw the highlights on saintsplayer earlier, that chipped through ball was a peach, perfect weight and backspin. Morgan still had plenty to do, great finish from him.

Is that what you reckon? Please explain why.

Only speculating but you seem an intelligent sort so anyone loving the Daily Mail who isn't too dense to be aware of the right wing bile must be assumed to sympathise. Although you really aren't that smart if you think their stance on is negated by an article on Africa - they are not the EDL and far more subtle. I have no knowledge of their anti-saints stance as suspect that is just bs that people see everywhere if journo's aren't gushing about us.

How do you reconcile this view with other stories the Daily Mail has run over the years - such as that newspaper's outspoken stance on the Steven Lawrence case for instance?

The daily racist strikes again FFS. What a vile paper.

Like you, Turkish, I get bored by people making silly, cheap, predicable jibes about a national newspaper. But when you write things like this you only encourage them.

Everybody, can we please just talk about the article?

Yes admirable, but that doesn't mean all their other poison isn't valid. Amazing how many defendants of The DM will mention this. FFS they aren't advocates if racial murders. Anyway not here to change anyone's ideology but if people can't see it they probably don't want to or never will.

Not much off the Express which just has its headlines in a loop. Statins, weather, house prices, immigration, pensions etc

Try the headline bingo card:

Apologies as very off topic

Umm, it seems to me your obvious hatred of this publication might itself be a form of prejudice. As for the so called 'Star of Africa' - this reminds me that my old dad had the Africa Star - mind you he had to do something a tad more dangerous that kicking a football around to earn it ...

I think the line between sarcasm and trolling can be a fine one - not always obvious at the time - sometimes not even obvious afterwards.

In this case Turks was clearly being sarcastic - but it took about another 5 or so posts of heated exchanges before that became clear.

'Tis the difference between a forum (hiding behind keyboards as some say) and a face-to-face discussion (over a pint maybe).

Sarcasm and banter more easily go astray when we can't see faces or hear attenuation in the voice...

I think that's the real difference - and what (sort of) went wrong - yet again ...... ho hum!

I could hardly disagree more.

Leaving aside the fact that the newspaper in question is actually mentioned in the thread title, far from being some perverse behavior restricted to the Internet, the observation that everyday discussions do tend to stray from their original topic and head off at a tangent on occasion exactly mimics most 'off line' conversations I have ever experienced. I would also suggest that anyone who sat down with their mates in a pub and issued a set of instructions ordering them that the following conservation must remain strictly on topic at all times would be looked upon as being somewhat odd to put it mildly!

As for this type of (very Human) behavior being sufficient to cause depression among readers ... well this seems to me to be a overreaction to put it mildly. Indeed if something as trivial as that is sufficient to inflict distress then how some cope with the real annoyances of the everyday world is a mystery to this football fan.

But in a effort to prevent mental illness among our more delicate 'linear thinkers' on here, I will add that from what I've seen of him thus far Victor Wanyama looks to be a very good player.

Happy now? :p

It's a shame that a thread on one of our players is derailed because of the posts of this one individual just because of the origin of the newspaper article that sparked the OP.

It was generous of you to suggest that Dorkish was just being sarcastic, although with sarcasm being the lowest form of wit, that would explain why he excuses himself by saying that his remarks were not meant to be hilarious. His contribution was trolling, pure and simple. Several posts taking the OP way off topic and not one single opinion given regarding the OP, although even if there were one, it probably wouldn't be clear if it was serious or not.

I like you Chapel end Charlie and agree with your post - will never like the Daily Mail though although this doesn't stem to it's sports coverage.

I am at the disadvantage of not knowing all the 'characters' on here although seen many of Turkish's post and he seems to say interesting things at times although derailed by tedious repetition no doubt caused by some previous spat and woudl seem to have a superiority complex. Like many of us!

Absolutely spot on. It really winds me up the Turkish makes these one line posts knowing that people will be forced to reply rather than just skip past if they're not interested.
