saintant Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 It seems Spurs are willing to sell Andros Townsend. Thought he looked superb for QPR last season and might be worth a punt.
StDunko Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Agree that he seems a talent on the pitch, but was it him that got a fine for breaking gambling rules? If so perhaps not the brightest spark off the field.
OldNick Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Very one footed, not PL. standard IMO
saints_is_the_south Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Thought he was one of QPR's brighter sparks last season, always looked good whenever I saw him. Made a mistake with the gambling thing, but who doesn't make mistakes in life? I'd be happy to have him here.

shurlock Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Worth a flutter One footed but so is Gareth Bale - was v.good last season and teams still had problems playing against him once it was clear he was one of QPR's main and only attacking threats. Barry Sanchez Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Similar to the Rooney and Suarez deals, why would Spurs sell to genuine European rivals/contenders?
Faz Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Where would he play?
shurlock Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Where would he play? Principally plays on the left but Redknapp put him on the right where he looked a lot more dangerous. Allows him to cut inside which our teams seem encouraged to do.
Dig Dig Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Well worth a punt, very good player. Even Les Reed would know he's a championship player

shurlock Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 I'll re-phrase; who will he dislodge from our team/squad? Whoever's been on the right where we've chopped and changed -Guly (yesterday), Punch, Ramirez etc
Barry Sanchez Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 Even Les Reed would know he's a championship player Les Reed was enquiring about Frank Worthington and Chris Nichol so I am sceptical of his scouting/football abilities......................................... tajjuk Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 He's an average enough player. A few are impressed in the same way they were with Ryan smith. Anyone that seems to be able to run with the ball a bit really. He has a good shot but overall his end product is poor. He's only 21, seems to have lots of pace, decent dribbling and a good shot. He's also performed well in the prem in a poor team. If the price was right I'd have him, gives us a left footed option to play left wing for some variety as well. Probably, although asking a lot of Isgrove to make the step up, he;s shown early promise pre-season. I don't think Gaston is a regular wide option either. We also only have no wide left option who is left footed. Like I said, price around £3-4 million would be good.

Do we have players who are direct and can get behind a team? Jrod's managed in it flashes - the others don't play that way.

Les Reed is doubt a great job. League one to 2nd season in premier league. You don't get there without the right buys and investment...

sotonjoe Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 We need a wide player. Neither Lallana nor Puncheon were reliable enough last season.
S-Clarke Posted 11 August, 2013 Share Posted 11 August, 2013 We need a wide player. Neither Lallana nor Puncheon were reliable enough last season. I don't think we will necessarily be adopting a great deal of 'natural' width in our game.

From the little I've seen he looks pretty direct and so are both JRod and Punch. I would have said its not an area we are looking at, particularly someone who created so little from that position last season. Direct but clueless would be my current description of him.
