The first goal we conceded was pretty messy on a few accounts. It looked like Chambers wasn't tracking his man after the rebound from the initial cross and allowed him to get a second cross in unchallenged. From that Shaw was caught ball watching and I think Morgan either got a call to leave or decided he couldn't get a decent boot on it without risking an o.g.

Second goal was pretty much Chambers' fault really. I don't want to be harsh on a young player but he needs to be much tighter on his man with those.

Lambert's scuffle looks like a bit of handbags to me. Think a booking each was fair but it's odd to see Lambert lose his rag like that, he's normally very level headed. Maybe the stress of a new-born kid and a lack of sleep got to him. Who knows. That kind of thing hasn't done Rooney's England career any harm so we shouldn't worry too much.

Third goal highlights exactly why Fox and Davis are inadequate. On it's own I could forgive this kind of thing but they were both mistakes we've seen repeatedly from those two in the past. Fox being left behind by his man and Davis getting beaten near post.

There was some ill feeling prior to the Lambert incident largely caused by Carlos Vela, who seems to be a bit of a bulb. If it was a competitive match he would've been booked at least three times.

Our defending was poor but our attacking was very good.

Kelvin needs to keep that sort of shot out. Harsh to blame Fox as the midfield had let Vela stroll through and pick his man out too easily. As someone else said, Chambers needed to put more pressure on Vela for the second as he had looked to have taken it too wide. There were about three players at fault for the first but goodness knows why Morgan didn't boot it up in the air.

If he couldn't do it against Sam Baldock at the near post in league 1 he won't do it now.

From what I could tell from the Lambert incident he had arms locked with the defender as they were running, and there was a suggestion that the defender threw an elbow at him as they unlocked, then there was a brief altercation with shoving and the defender coming in late actually does a headbutt gesture to imply that Lambert attempted to nut the Sociedad player (which he definitely didn't). Bunch of handbags, but SOMETHING happened to spark Lambert off.

The Brighton incident mentioned was an absolutely travesty of playacting by El Abd and an appalling decision as Lambert was trying to get free after El Abd dragged him to the ground and then pulled him back as he tried to get up. Nothing resembling "previous", he was remarkably restrained considering.

Kelvin was completely to blame for the near post goal, he actually fell to his right away from the post, and the ball went in off his left elbow and the post. It was a great through ball that gave Fox no chance, because he was on the outside of the striker (which is probably where a left back would expect to be) and there was no pressure on the ball.

Chambers lacked a challenge for their second, having done well to get back and go shoulder to shoulder with Vela(?) he should have had at least a foot out to block the shot. It was pretty much the only time he looked out of his depth, but how many times did that kind of thing happen to Fox last season ? The first goal should have been whacked clear by Schneiderlin but he pulled out of it for some reason (like Lovren did against Besiktas).
