Stepgar Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Looks like it may be ligament damage according MP. Not good, how long for these types of injuries?
Window Cleaner Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Looks like it may be ligament damage according MP. Not good, how long for these types of injuries? Medial 3 months Cruciates see you in April lad
S-Clarke Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 It'll be a long one, you could tell by the way it happened and how he reacted. Absolute nightmare for us.
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Depends on ther date of the England game usually
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Depends if they are torn, strained, bruised, tweaked, whatever. As a general rule of thumb though it would be a minimum three weeks best case, if his ligaments really have been damaged in the 'best' of ways.
Stepgar Posted 10 August, 2013 Author Posted 10 August, 2013 Ouch!! One would think we would go out to buy another LB if thats the case. Perhaps Buttner on loan??
Georgie Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Need another left back, possibly on loan until January. Despite Fox apparently being ok back up he is not good enough for a prolonged run in the side
Saint_clark Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Need another left back, possibly on loan until January. Despite Fox apparently being ok back up he is not good enough for a prolonged run in the side Agree with this. If Shaw is out for anything over a month we need to look at getting someone in on loan.
Toon Saint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport 51s I'm told Luke Shaw will have a scan tomorrow on his injured knee - the feeling is that it's ligament damage but not bad #saintsfc
S-Clarke Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Need another left back, possibly on loan until January. Despite Fox apparently being ok back up he is not good enough for a prolonged run in the side What we should do is now replace fox, go out there and buy a better left back than Fox full stop. The new fullback then replaces shaw, Fox continues as cover until Shaw is back. Then once shaw is back, Fox leaves...evolution of the squad....but we're probably going to have our hands forced here.
patred44 Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport 51s I'm told Luke Shaw will have a scan tomorrow on his injured knee - the feeling is that it's ligament damage but not bad #saintsfc still a minimum of 6 weeks even if there is no tear:mcinnes:
saint_bert Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Is Espinoza still at Wigan? Was really impressed with him last season.

patred44 Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Is Espinoza still at Wigan? Was really impressed with him last season. Aaron Cresswell of Ipswich is a young left back we have been watching closely pre season. maybe time to esculate our intwerest into a firm bid.
farawaysaint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 (edited) How can ligament damage not be bad?! Grade 1 ligament sprain? 4-6 weeks on the table and a brilliant start to the season. Edited 10 August, 2013 by farawaysaint
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 I find it funny how most of us fans have been crying out for a LB as back up / competition for Shaw yet the powers that be didn't. We need a LB and striker at the very least if we are to improve more than a few places than last season.
doubleonothing Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Riise available on a free. Worth getting in on a pay as you play or 1 year deal as cover?
Batman Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 if he is out for 'weeks' we would need to get someone in I would have thought. Riise would be ideal. Free offer him a 1 year deal
Restark19 Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Riise available on a free. Worth getting in on a pay as you play or 1 year deal as cover? would definitely take him on a 1 year deal, Fox isn't good enough to be first choice at this level, Riise has a lot of experience at this level and would be great competition for Shaw when he's fit again
Andy Durman Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Wait for the information to be issued by the club
Ohio Saint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Wait for the information to be issued by the club This.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Wait for the information to be issued by the club yup too many medical experts on here who are quick to diagnose without ever having examined the patient!
patred44 Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 This. except that we are already interested enough to send a half a dozen 'scouts' to the Colchester v Ipswich friendly the other week to run the rule over Creswell. Ipswich would want in the region of £2-3m for him. There is a derinate interest there..and made even more so now
DuncanRG Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Fingers crossed he'll be okay. If he's out for more than a month or two we'll need to loan someone in I think.
BlakeySFC Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 We NEED to get in another LB now. If we don't it could be the difference between us finishing 8-12th or finishing 13th-15th. I've said it time and time again, Fox is just not good enough at this level. He's alright filling in for the odd game here and there but for the first 4-7 games of the season...no way josé.
Rasiak-9- Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 I was singing the praises of Maynor Figeuroa for a long time, especially after Wigan were relegated and he'd be very much an achievable target. Plus he's totally competent at centre-back. Now he's gone to Hull and we've missed our chance. Really poor stuff.

My thoughts exactly. It would be ok if shaw was just missing for the first couple of games but anything more than that, no. We have a great chance to start the season well, lets not blow it
pangy Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 The club will tell you nothing just that he is injured and unavailable

It was so obvious that he was going to get ligament damage.
beatlesaint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Yeah, because we all saw this injury coming...why couldn't they see it? FFS. It was so obvious that he was going to get ligament damage. Despite your high level of sarcasm the truth is Shaw does seem to get injured quite a lot and we need a decent left back as cover. We have all known it since Christmas at least !!!
Faz Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 I think most of you are deluded. You want a top quality full back who is happy to play understudy to Shaw. Can't see it happening.
Georgie Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 I think most of you are deluded. You want a top quality full back who is happy to play understudy to Shaw. Can't see it happening. Just better than fox, can't be that hard. Really we only need a loan if the ligament isn't too 'bad'
Saint_clark Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Just better than fox, can't be that hard. Really we only need a loan if the ligament isn't too 'bad' Name them then. Good full backs are hard to find at the best of times, let alone when you're bringing them in with the sole purpose of being back up. Fox really isn't as bad as people make out.

Viking Warrior Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Luke gets a knock and all the orthopaedic consultants come out in force on this forum . Lets the club amateurs examine him tomorrow and see what they have to say . Instead of all this speculation

Viking Warrior Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 I know I'm a spoilsport Ron . But reading some of the would be consultants on here . You would think he had his leg amputated
Georgie Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Riise would do fine. But don't expect us to do anything especially if they think targett will come through this season
Dazza82 Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Matt Targett will step up to the plate imo, no need to get a new one
Georgie Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Matt Targett will step up to the plate imo, no need to get a new one Hope so, just wish he could step up now. Hopefully we will do ok until shaw is back
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Maybe little as 2 weeks or worse case scenario 9 months. Lets wait and see before we start pressing panic button. Although tweets from lovren and isgrove would maybe suggest it is potentially a nasty injury
stevy777_x Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 How about Clyne on the left and chambers on the right?
RonManager Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Matt Targett will step up to the plate imo, no need to get a new one I fear he will not 'step up to the plate' at all, Sir. For, you see, it is Association Football that he plays, not the American Baseball. forever at your service, Mr P. Edant esq.
Saint Jude Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 How about Clyne on the left and chambers on the right? For me Chambers isn't good enough to start right now... Looked inexperienced today...plus Clyne is only due to start trying this week

Pat from Poole Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Buttner would be a good shout; could also be a very decent option at left-mid. Thought he was signing for a Turkish club though ( Besiktas?)
bjk Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Cork has probably lost his place to Wanyama, so play him at right back and Clyne at left back.Panic over.
