Cincy USA Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 Saw a tweet saying there is supposed to be £2 train & bus tickets for the friendly tomorrow How does this work? I am over from the States and have a ticket for the match and need to travel in from Romsey. Thanks for any pointers on how to nab a cheapie train fare
The9 Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 (edited) There's a thing here offering £2.50 dayriders to match ticket holders within the M27 : http://www.bluestarbus.co.uk/football.shtml They also do a bluebus dayrider outside the M27 for £5.50, dunno if they go to Romsey though. Guessing that's it ? Don't know (and can't find) anything about the trains. Edited 9 August, 2013 by The9
stevegrant Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 If you book at the right time, you can get Megatrain services from Waterloo to Southampton for £1 each way, but it's quite restrictive in terms of which services you can actually get. Really good value though. The train from Romsey to Southampton is about £6, I think, which is scandalous for a journey that barely takes 10 minutes
action man Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 what happened to the FREE bus travel cortese was supposed to supply with agreement with the council on crowd figures

Cincy USA Posted 10 August, 2013 Author Posted 10 August, 2013 I asked the ticket guy at Romsey station and he looked at me as if I had coughed up a chicken. So, £4.20 it was. Still good value I reckon.
The9 Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 what happened to the FREE bus travel cortese was supposed to supply with agreement with the council on crowd figures The council have no balls, they agreed with LOWE when we closed the corners that if the club had more than 10x 20k crowds in a season they would have to reinstitute free bus tickets with match tickets (as per the original agreement for having the ground where it is). They obviously don't have the will to enforce it under the club's new ownership.
