Viking Warrior Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/iv-drip/video-watch-the-marmite-advert-thats-generated-over-250-complaints-8750177.html Hundreds have complained about this ad. Some people need to get a life, there are far more important things to worry about in life than an amusing advert
Saint_clark Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 What's to complain about? I'm sure no marmite jars were harmed in the filming of the advert.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 I think some of the people that complained post on here. They will be along shortly.
jjsaint Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 I like this advert. Every time someone complains, I'm going to put a kitten in a bin. The more vitriolic the complaint, the cuter the kitten and the more putrid and toxic the waste into which he will be dumped.
Spudders Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 I like this advert. Every time someone complains, I'm going to put a kitten in a bin. The more vitriolic the complaint, the cuter the kitten and the more putrid and toxic the waste into which he will be dumped. I'll give you +1 reputations point if you post a picture of a marmite covered kitten in a bin!
Pugwash Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 My cat loves marmite. Just thought you should know.
Minty Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 The latest advert for Marmite has attracted complaints from those who feel it makes light of the neglect and abuse of children and animals. This is just ridiculous. If it used neglected children and/or animals in some way, then yes of course that would be inappropriate, but it doesn't in the slightest... it is so clearly ridiculously over the top in the way it plays up to the notion of marmite being loved or hated, it actually takes some effort to link it to neglected kids or animals IMO... They're taking the **** out of their own customers in some respects and fair play to them for that. Laugh along with it and move along, nothing to complain about here.
Patrick Bateman Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 It's typical of people complaining on behalf of people that may or may not be offended, but they feel the need to complain just in case they are offended. Utter, utter helmets.
angelman Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 It's Friday afternoon and I am being a bit slow, but what actually are people complaining about?
Minty Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 It's Friday afternoon and I am being a bit slow, but what actually are people complaining about? As I quoted, that: ...it makes light of the neglect and abuse of children and animals.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 There are a lot of sensitive souls about. If we listened to them we'd be living in a pile of grey goo.
tpbury Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 I'm not sure, but after 4 years in Australia, I think I actually prefer Vegemite.
angelman Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 Ah, sorry Minty. I read your post but not the quote part!!! Anyway it was a little rhetorical. While it is a parody of the RSPCA and animal abuse, where does it parody child abuse? I really can't see that bit, unless it is the kid at the end pulling faces having eaten it. Is it the pixilating? I wonder how many of those who complain are members or donors to the hugely political and quite powerful aforementioned "charity"?
angelman Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 I'm not sure, but after 4 years in Australia, I think I actually prefer Vegemite. Strewth fella. Next you'll be saying that VB is good.
Hamilton Saint Posted 9 August, 2013 Posted 9 August, 2013 I'm not sure, but after 4 years in Australia, I think I actually prefer Vegemite. I was back in England last week and I found something in a supermarket there called Aussiemite. Is this a renamed version of Vegemite, or something different?
tpbury Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 Strewth fella. Next you'll be saying that VB is good. Since they put the strength back to 4.9%, I do actually like it! There are many mites, Aussiemite, promite, ****emite or whatever. Most are low quality. It is a long time since I had marmite, though interestingly bought some Bovril recently when I couldn't have solid food. Now that was a trip down memory lane!

John Boy Saint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 There are some strange people out there. I bet it is a cracking night in round their house!!
aintforever Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 You have to wonder about what type of person would complain about that. There is a lot of weird people out there.
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 This is a classic category mistake. The ad is not news, or information. It's comedy. And very amusing, btw!
scotty Posted 10 August, 2013 Posted 10 August, 2013 ...and here we are, talking about a Marmite advert. It probably is found offensive or upsetting by some, but thats the point. Like those fashion adverts a few years back, each one more "controversial" than the last, then withdrawn after massive public reaction and colossal press coverage.
