@SouthamptonFC: A free download of a special #FIFA14 cover featuring three #SaintsFC stars will be available on 27th September when it launches in the UK.

@SouthamptonFC: #SaintsFC fans will also have the chance to take each other on at #FIFA14 when the EA SPORTS Dugout visits St Mary's this season.

On Facebook the club's also said they're exploring the option of having pre-packaged versions available in the club shop. So long as they stick to £39.99 (or no more than £44.99 if ST discount applies) I'd definitely buy my copy from the Megastore - as far as I remember the margin on videogames is about a tenner so it could be a nice little earner.

Seeing as a whole pile of clubs had official FIFA covers last season, including some pretty poky ones as well as the usual suspects, and we weren't one of them, this is just a sign of Saints following where others have led.

Nice to see a Saints shirt on the Japanese cover though, that should get a few people asking who Yoshida's playing for nowadays if nothing else.

Wouldn't they still be more naturally predisposed to playing Konami's PES (or more accurately Winning Eleven) over there ?

Okay, so I just did a quick search and found out that PES outsold Fifa 5 to 1 last year on the PS3.

FIFA 13: + Japan: 0.10m 1.5%

PES 13: + Japan: 0.47m 38.4%

Thought as much, the Japanese love a bit of PES/Winning Eleven and it'll take more than the game being cack for most of the last 5 years to convince them otherwise. FIFA have never done J-League Editions for a start. :)

Slightly perplexed that the other two players aren't wearing plain red kits too. That's all those chinese people what live in Japan and stuff care about isn't it? I mean, look at Cardiff.

EA dropped a right boll ock here I think and no mistake.

I asked the club if ea have come in (or plan to) to do the 3d face scans. only yoshida and Lovren had real faces last year.

They have not answered me or others which suggest:

A. No or

B. they don't have a clue.

C. They don't care and have better things to do with their time than reply to you.

My guess... C.

This is a huge contract! This is bigger than signing Ramirez. Buzzing

Some ITK information on this topic...

EA offered Saints £160k per annum for a partnership deal ( really all they wanted was Maya from their Japanese front cover ). Cortese insists that partnership deals must be £250k minimum and so he rejected this deal 6 months ago. Looks like he's backed down - may have something to do with the fact that the shirt deal didn't happen (he turned down two offers of £1.5m+ per annum despite the aap3 contract only bringing in £300k this season). Some of his business decisions seem very odd. Must have a master plan. I can see why he would reject the shirt deal if he felt that a good season this season would push us into the £5m+ bracket, or more if we made it into Europe, and so he's willing to lose £1m this season in order to get a booster contract next season. The EA contract seems to be a backtrack from his own rules...can only assume we need the cash coming in and to be fair, EA is a good partner to have.

Really didn't expect EA to offer much at all for such a 'partnership' deal to be honest, even to just get Yoshida on the cover. I thought they'd offer £50k max for such a partnership considering they've been sacking LOADS of people in their US Development studios.

Really strange decision about the sponsorships if we were offered £1.5m a season and turned it down, the only reason I consider 'logical' is that Cortese is a man of honour and didn't want to let aap3 down at the last minute.

You actually correct people's mistakes when you quote them?

Always. I wouldn't want people to think I'd seen it and didn't think it was important enough to change. You can also see this in action in the Man U > Saints thread.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bump....

Van Persie volleying past Boruc at OT with Maya watching.

Lambo hitting the post at the Etihad all feature in the new trailer for current-gen released today.

Still doubt we will get 3d face sacns and/or St Marys. Goodison has just been added however.
