fish fingers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Has Lamberts brother given away that he's starting yet?
Gingeletiss Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Has Lamberts brother given away that he's starting yet? That will be lost on most here ;-)
Stepgar Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 That will be lost on most here ;-) I remember it well.
Viking Warrior Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 He's not starting welbeck up front . I hope he gets on . At least I don't have to watch the first half come on Scotland
Viking Warrior Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I might be mad but you are definately mental hypo
hypochondriac Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I might be mad but you are definately mental hypo Well we should get on well then...
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 He's not starting welbeck up front I think you may be missing a comma there sir...
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 @Agungbusby: England XI: Hart, Walker, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Gerrard, Wilshere, Walcott, Rooney, Cleverley, Welbeck (4-2-3-1) (No idea who the twitterer is bit seems to reflect the snippets coming out of Sky)
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 @Agungbusby: England XI: Hart, Walker, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Gerrard, Wilshere, Walcott, Rooney, Cleverley, Welbeck (4-2-3-1) (No idea who the twitterer is bit seems to reflect the snippets coming out of Sky) Have Sky indicated Lambert isnt starting be it saying it or that two other strikers are?
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Have Sky indicated Lambert isnt starting be it saying it or that two other strikers are? There are many tweets saying that Sky are reporting that Welbeck, Cleverly and Rooney to start up front...
Colinjb Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 There are many tweets saying that Sky are reporting that Welbeck, Cleverly and Rooney to start up front... Leaving a barely fit Defoe and Rickie on the bench then.
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 There are many tweets saying that Sky are reporting that Welbeck, Cleverly and Rooney to start up front... As much as I hate the icon, my hand is near my head! O well, play players out of position ie Cleverley, if that's how you wanna play it, Roy! Hopefully he will play the second '45! Thanks for letting me know, trousers, means I can go and play 5 a side during the first half without missing SRL!
shirleysfc Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 There are many tweets saying that Sky are reporting that Welbeck, Cleverly and Rooney to start up front... Surely Walcott will be up front and Cleverly in midfield??
Matthew Le God Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 There are many tweets saying that Sky are reporting that Welbeck, Cleverly and Rooney to start up front... Sky said it is a 4-2-3-1 Welbeck upfront, with Rooney, Cleverly and Walcott behind him.
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Sky said it is a 4-2-3-1 Welbeck upfront, with Rooney, Cleverly and Walcott behind him. Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant.

shurlock Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 To be honest, couldnt see Lambert and Rooney starting together. Too similar: both like to drop off too much and you need someone playing further up.
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: The #England team news is in. Rickie Lambert starts on the bench, and wears shirt number 20. #lambertforengland #saintsfc
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 @FA: #England Team: 1 Hart 2 Walker 3 Baines 4 Gerrard © 5 Cahill 6 Jagielka 7 Walcott 8 Wilshere 9 Welbeck 10 Rooney 11 Cleverley #EngvSco @FA: Subs: 12 Johnson 13 Foster 14 Cole 15 Jones 16 Smalling 17 Milner 18 Lampard 19 Defoe 20 Lambert 21 Chamberlain 22 Zaha 23 Ruddy #EngvSco
doubleonothing Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Honestly can't see what he sees in Welbeck. If he didn't play for Utd, would he actually be in the squad let alone starting?
Shroppie Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I can see Rickie getting a token 10 mins... As long as he gets on. He deserves it.
Faz Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I can see Rickie getting a token 10 mins... Don't think Rooney will play more than 45
cellone Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I can see Rickie getting a token 10 mins... Unfortunately I think you're right
dubai_phil Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 FFS make your mind up Solent/FA Do I print #20 or 21 on the back of my Shirt for tonight?
St.Patrik Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Forren starts for Norway vs Sweden - finally I get to see him play : )
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 FFS make your mind up Solent/FA Do I print #20 or 21 on the back of my Shirt for tonight? 20 according to the FA.
Minsk Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I think Rickie will replace Rooney at half time. At least, I hope so.
Under Weststand Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Real shame but not a big surprise. Rickie will probably get ten to twenty mins during a plethora of substitutions when then game is getting really messy & disjointed. I hope I'm wrong but I think Hodgson will not give him a fair crack at this tonight.
Smirking_Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Honestly can't see what he sees in Welbeck. If he didn't play for Utd, would he actually be in the squad let alone starting? I think he will end up a decent player, his technique always seemed decent to me and he works hard which is also his downfall really, this is why when he was played by SAF he was deployed out wide. He gave Real a torrid time and usually looks ok in an England top for me. I get the impression Hodgson sees him for the future and is bedding him into the international team. England arent exactly blessed with strikers ATM either, Id have liked to have seen Hooper given a go though.

Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Usual crap from England and Hodgson. Not surprised Rickie doesn't start, just disappointed.
trousers Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: Rickie introduced to the crowd... #lambertforengland #saintsfc https://t.co/LyN4JI9Fnd
John Boy Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Honestly can't see what he sees in Welbeck. If he didn't play for Utd, would he actually be in the squad let alone starting? If he wasn't at United you wouldn't have heard of him or Cleverley for that matter
rshephard3 Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Yep, it's got an anti-climax feel about it That's what she said
hypochondriac Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Not sure what benefit starting rooney has.
Smirking_Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Not sure what benefit starting rooney has. I agree TBH. Carrying an injury, against lowly Scotland, why not use it to try out some of the other players ?
Foxy Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 If he wasn't at United you wouldn't have heard of him or Cleverley for that matter You might have heard someone say 'that Welbeck fella at Montrose - he's no bloody good'
angelman Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Strange that the Jocks would boo their own (proper) anthem.
Saint Garrett Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Hope Rickie gets a half atleast. Here's hoping Rooney gets injured in the first 5 minutes.
Chez Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I actually rate Welbeck, but I had hoped Sir Rickie would get the nod. Maybe an England wim will cheer me up. I hope the Lambert call up doesn't end up being like the Kev Davis call up.
