Simples Posted 8 August, 2013 Posted 8 August, 2013 Hi All, Can anyone recommend a good company in the Hampshire area for alloy wheel refurbishment? My wheels aren't in a too bad condition, but I'd like to bring them back to 'as new' standard, as originally supplied. Any idea of the cost of this and the average timescale i.e, can you drive in and wait while they are done? Thanks in advance, Simples.

Basically you pay them a deposit and the cost of the refurb wheels. They send you refurbed wheeels, you send your old wheels off to them. They arrange all the couriers and costs. http://www.pxwheels.com/pages/faq.php
Simples Posted 8 August, 2013 Author Posted 8 August, 2013 Thanks buctootim. I had a look at the website and they don't have my wheels (Alfa) on there. Looks like a goos scheme though.
buctootim Posted 8 August, 2013 Posted 8 August, 2013 They say this (below) about wheels they dont have in stock so might still be worth it. what swayed it for me was that they powder coat and bake their wheels whereas (according to them) most refurbers simply spray them silver so only last 12 months or so. Fine for doing up to sell but not for keeping. FAQ. I can't see my wheels. Can you refurbish mine? How much does it cost? We can refurbish yours for the same price as similar wheels we have on exchange, we can arrange collection and re-delivery, we will also supply shipping boxes if you need them.
swannymere Posted 8 August, 2013 Posted 8 August, 2013 For a set of four wheels with tyre removal and refitting with balancing and new valves the average for a decent place is £250-£300. There's a place in Fareham - http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk which is slightly more than other places but has a good reputation, another place near Droxford which i've only heard one thing about from a customer and it wasn't positive. Most of the people who use a car forum i'm on would only use this place - http://www.lepsons.com which is in Gillingham, Kent.
Colinjb Posted 8 August, 2013 Posted 8 August, 2013 I used Chipsaway for the wheels on my Alfa 147 a few years ago. They did a great job. They have national franchises, there will be someone local to Southampton i'm sure. Dad used them also for some minor paint damage on his Volvo in Kings Worthy.
Simples Posted 8 August, 2013 Author Posted 8 August, 2013 Thanks for the replies everyone. Some food for thought there, will look into the suggestions on here. Simples.
