Can't say I like the whole "pre-draw" nonsense where the unseeded teams were drawn before the televised bit as either home or away, either do the whole draw on TV or none of it.

Boring. Not going to go.

Oh well - atleast it's winnable.

Most tedious draw imaginable - put out the reserve team.

Not really sure what you guys were expecting, it's the League Cup second round and we're a seeded team. We're guaranteed to be playing a lower league side, aside from local convenience for some people, I really don't know what you were hoping for. I don't see why a trip to Barnsley is any worse than any of the other teams in the draw.

It's winnable if nothing else. Lets at least not embarrass ourselves like we did at Leeds last season.

I've just looked at the unseeded teams, and Newport aside there is literally no opposition I'd be bothered to go to for an away match on a midweek evening. Burton Albion is about the closest one I haven't been to that I'd consider, and aside from that it's all too far North places like Morecambe, Doncaster, Notts County, Bury and Accrington.

A team away I've not been to, someone random like Newport/Cheltenham, or someone at home, or someone local.

Went to Barnsley in the NPC.

Not really boring just because you've been there, I've seen 4 Lions on several occasions doesn't mean it's a boring film. Sorry if I sound like MLG but I find it odd that so many people say the LC 2nd round draw is boring EVERY season, like they're expecting a trip to the Bernabeu or something.

Back to the game, I might actually be able to go if it's on the Wednesday. Thoughts on the team?

Kelvin

Chambers - Fonte - Hooiveld - Fox

Cork - JWP

Puncheon - Guly - Lallana

Mayuka

Something like that

For me any of Bournemouth, Yeovil, Accrington, Huddersfield, Charlton, Leyton Orient or Millwall would have been exciting draws (away from home, obviously).

It's South Yorkshire mate, I'll be blackening up my face with coal, wearing a hard hat with a torch on it and singing anti Margaret thatcher songs to win over the locals.

It had better not be, that would make Alpine wrong.

Speaking of me, I went to Newport on Saturday (may have mentioned this), and I saw Cheltenham v Newport at Whaddon Road in the Southern League Premier in about 1995, so I have no reason to go there.

Me, me, me, me. None of this Saint Garrett nonsense.

/sarcasm.

Tuesday 27th August. As it is local for you, will you attend in your best "Last of the Summer Wine" regalia?
Has it been confirmed for the Tuesday?

Probably not far off. Would like to see Isgrove given a start though, maybe Seager on the bench?

Can we try and win it please?

Agreed. Would be fantastic to have a good run in it and win the only major cup trophy still to allude us.

This is the competition that a team like ours can win.

Forget Europe through the league. We have no hope of finishing fifth but this is very doable.

I agree entirely, and don't know why so many on here seem to be disinterested in this....this is a competition we should having a serious pop at...ticket to Europe, Final at Wembley, what's not to like about it???

Its a bit like the FA CUp used to be, the cup where anything can happen and a lot of teams entering it will think they can have a good run in it. There is normally a surprise team who makes it through to at least the semis so why not us, we have every chance.

Obviously our line-up is dependent on who is match fit and involved in the first team by the 27th, but I would go with something like this:

-------------------GAZZA-----------------

CHAMBERS----FONTE----TURNBULL----FOX

----------------JWP-----DAVIS-----------

PUNCHEON----------GULY---------ISGROVE

------------------MAYUKA----------------

Subs: K.Davis, Stephens, Hooiveld, Gape, Rowe, Sinclair, Seager

An up for it Barnsley side would turn that team over I reckon.

Not too sure really, maybe weak in defence but strong in attack and midfield. Besides, I reckon we should go for the FA Cup instead - less games involved in a run to the later stages.
