Dalek2003 Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 Wembley 76. However, are we allowed to go back and change any of the moments for the better ? Think about it, football games swing on a moments lapse of concentration or one incident. Suppose Killer had not got his foot caught in a FP rabbit hole or we had held on to a win against Boro in our relegation year etc.

Minty Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 Playing at the Dell and scoring twice. Slightly selfish perhaps, and it may only have been a charity match, but not many people can say they've done it.

bpsaint Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 Le Tiss last goal against Arsenal. I've never been amongst a celebration like that since. Crouch last minute penalty against the s****s. Toon Saint Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 (edited) 6-3 vs. Man Utd. This is sort of preserved as I can spot myself, aged 10, in the slowed-down replays of Le Tiss's chip over Schmeichel. #sexyhair Edited 7 August, 2013 by Toon Saint

Professor Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 Some great moments have been mentioned and for all of us going to see Saints for the first time will always be special, for me that was at The Dell against Newcastle in the mid 1960s, but the greatest moment in my opinion wasn't just Wembley 76 but the moment that Bobby Stokes scored. Absolutely unforgettable!!!!!!!!
ericb Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 Wembley 76 (wasn't old enough), Moran at Fratton (was born but too young to go away to Fratton), Dellhurst, Matty's last goal at the dell and a weird one but Lambert's pen against Millwall away to win the game (that day is one of my favourite away days). saints_is_the_south Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 A lot of good ones already mentioned. I'll add Camara 88th minute against Norwich in the relegation season. To this day I have never heard SMS as loud as it was when the ball hit the back of the net for that one. Insane celebrations. Sheffield Utd 3-2 survival game in the Championship is another, probably the 2nd best atmosphere ever at SMS after that Norwich game. What a topsy turvey, nerve shredding, emotion draining, but ultimately very relieving and great day that was.
ericb Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 Actually i'm going to be greedy and have one more, Liverpool 4-1 at the Dell under Nicholl (89 if memory serves). Probably the best team performance i've ever seen from saints. We'd have destroyed anyone that day, and to do it to the current div one champions was a beast of a win. Viking Warrior Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 this is a hard one Was it the winning goal at norwich in that 5-4 victory MLT goal against arse in the last league game at the dell , that was just awesome But if your basing it on number of goosebumbs , thenit has to be the moment when the late booby stokes scored against united. I can still see the build up Macalliog to Bobby that run and the ball nestling in the far corner beyond the out stretched hand of stepney. I listened to it the other week , its in my itunes , God I was loke a lunatic all over again. god know what the neighbours thought

Wes Tender Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 It has to be Le Tiss scoring the last goal to beat Arsenal at the last match at the Dell. Honorable mentions to the Dellhurst experience and the 40 or so coach convoy that went up to the match against Wimbledon. Watching the video reminds me how close Wimbledon came to scoring several times before we eventually scored our two.
