Saint Mikey Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 (edited) The Secret Footballer has announced he may have a Secret Referee on board soon to start spilling some beans from inside the game, just like he does. This article has a little snippet from a chat he's had with him, and this quote from Scudamore is a complete joke: http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/articles/13015/referees-told-to-respect-premier-league-brand/ And, remember, you’re not in a sport, you are part of the entertainment business. We don’t want our top players being sent off every week because it’s bad for the brand. We want them on the pitch as much as possible The article is well worth reading, but as the SF says himself - it's hard enough to win at places like Old Trafford as it is, without this sort of bias. Unless there's some kind of turnaround, football is heading for a massive crash and burn at some point. It'll take a long while, but you can't advocate promoting a brand over competition. It'll make the game a farce. Edited 6 August, 2013 by Saint Mikey
ChicagoSaint Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 Good post. Hope thats not the case as it ruin the game. Thats basically how the NBA runs their league. Its about the "Stars" not the teams and one of the reasons i have absolutely no interest in watching it. One set of rules for players such as LeBron James and a different set for the non-superstars. Huffton Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 Sadly, I'm not at all surprised...
pap Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 If you want to see the hell that commercial consideration could send us, try watching a game from the Colombian League. Adverts every 30 seconds, played in screen on screen fashion over the game. Truly awful. I agree with the article. We've little to learn from the US when it comes to sports coverage, particularly football.
