Marsdinho Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 Hi, I'm currently looking in to flights for India, I want to go around May next year as its my birthday, but I'm open to suggestions if another time of year is cheaper. As a result of looking, I now get banner ads offering me flights as cheap as £411, but can I find those £411 flights, can I f5ck. Does anyone on here go to India regularly, or knows who to go about getting cheaper flights (ie, is it cheaper to fly on a Sunday etc) Or, does anyone use a particular site to search for good deals. Cheers
KK the 2nd Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 Try jet airways - though I've not been to India for a long time
Bwanamakubwa Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 To be honest flight prices won't vary much according to the time of year. Direct flights vary between about 500-700. I use skyscanner.net to get an idea
swannymere Posted 7 August, 2013 Share Posted 7 August, 2013 Southall travel have a very good website and they've always been cheapest when i book flights to Australia and Brazil and they have a very user friendly interface which shows the flights available over a 5-7 day period on departure and arrival so you can choose price to suit you. http://www.southalltravel.co.uk

Cheers Where do you want to fly to? Cheapest would probably be Mumbai flying from Heathrow. Southall Travel are good. Give a lot of time for your visa if its your first visit, if you are getting a holiday visa give it at least 1 month to get it back.

Ideally fly to Delhi, as I'm planning on heading up into the Himalayas. I spent 9 months in India in 1997 and went to Rishikesh, Dehra Dun, Manali, Leh etc and fancy doing something similar...but in 2 weeks, as opposed to 9 months! Cheers for the info so far. buctootim Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 I use kayak.co.uk which is similar to skyscanner. The cheapest is probably going to be indirect with a stop in the middle east. Turkish and Qatar are both good and usually cheap. Flights to Delhi with them in May for c£518 atm.
dubai_phil Posted 8 August, 2013 Share Posted 8 August, 2013 Anyone wanting to fly into Asia/Australasia/SA at a date in the future should go to Airline web sites such as Emirates, Gulf Air, Qatar, Cathay, Etihad & Royal Brunei & sign up for their Special Offer alerts. You will get spam from them BUT, as an example in July down here Emirates had local special offers (book before 4th Aug fly up to 3rd Dec) where their ticket prices were up to 40% cheaper than they are now. Ditto Etihad. Using Travel Agents and on line skyscanner type services are fine but the airlines themselves put the regular promotions out at random times. We had to make a number of trips into Poland this year for our wedding. The direct cost into Warsaw was around $1000. We waited on promotions and Lufthansa launched a Bi-Weekly 24 hour Tuesday Sale. Bingo, we got the flights for $500 Likewise, all the agents here (& Skyscanner) were quoting around 850 quid to get back to UK between now and Christmas (coming for the Wet Sham game & Domestic stuff) biff a 48 hour Emirates sale and got the ticket for 520 quid. IF you are going into Dehli or even one of the other Cities in India, then Middle East Airlines have HUNDREDS of flights to many destinations with (usually) decent connections Gulf Air & Bahrain airport are by far the worst but they are often the cheapest and they do get you there. Anyways direct to the websites is nearly always the best way AFTER using the online search engines to narrow down the routings.
Marsdinho Posted 8 August, 2013 Author Share Posted 8 August, 2013 Cheers Phil. When I went in 1997, I flew with Uzbekistan Airlines via Tashkent !!! Back then the internet wasn't the way to book flights, had to ring around all over the place to get a good deal. I know that was over 15 years ago, but I assumed the internet would offer competitive prices in this day and age. Instead of ringing around, I'll email around!!
