Man Utd (twice)

Leeds

Oldham

Nottingham Forest

Ipswich

Blackburn

Norwich

Spurs

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Utd

Torquay

And others I can't remember. She came for the travel and to see 't north of England. She usually did the crossword.

My new wife came to Saints v Leicester last home game of the season the day after we got married!! Her other treat was Barnsley away 3 4 defeat in the PL her first game. She liked Liverpool so I took her to Anfield when we lost 7-1. The Jamie Redknapp shirt I was going to buy her ( I know!) from their Club shop after the game got cancelled!!

Top 3 types of blokes that take their bird to football

Insecure mugs who can't bear to leave her alone

Soppy t*ats who are ruled their birds

Soppy t*ats who naively think they are spending quality time together

What if the girl actually likes football??

My wife comes with me from time to time to St Mary's, despite being a Norwich fan, and has seen far more Saints games than Norwich games! I can't convert her though, her whole family are Norwich fans and I'm the only Saint in my family. I've never been to Carrow Road though, which often gets brought up in arguments. :-) I think I'll probably get dragged there this season though.

I'd never let her know this, but I prefer going to St Mary's alone than with her. I prefer sitting at the back but when she comes I have to sit at the front.

took my girlfriend to bristol city away a few years ago, on valentines day. all my mates had bottled it coz they didnt want to let their girlfriends down so this was the only option i could see at the time. before we left she put on some new boots which had fairly high heels. i told her to stop being stupid and put something else on but she assured me nothing would go wrong. on the train there she complained her feet were hurting and by the time we arrived at the pub in bristol she took her boots off and her feet were bleeding. i could have left her there on her own i was so mad. we did end up going to the football and we were absolutely ****, think we lost 2-0. we left early and went home.

I haven't taken a girlfriend to a Saints game since my ex fell asleep in the Itchen watching us get tonked by Celtic in Claus' Testimonial. It was then I realised it wasn't going to work out. That and her sleeping with someone else. Not that I'm still bitter. The *****.

Took the bird (now the Mrs) to 3 games when I lived in London.

Chelsea 3-0 SFC [16 Sept 1995]

QPR 3-0 SFC [30 Mar 1996]

Wimbledon 3-1 SFC (at Selhurst Park) [23 Sept 1996]

After that I wasn't going to take her any more and she didn't want to go either! Trying to get my 10yo daughter to go to a game but she has taken her mother's opinion of football on board.

My first missus was a Saints fan and we actually hooked up whilst travelling to an away game on one of Clive Foley's coach trips. Unfortunately other than Saints and sex we didn't have that much in common, so she only lasted a couple of years. The next missus tried to like it and had a season ticket for a couple of years. Unfortunately I knew it was a losing battle when she used to take a book to read during the game. I kept her for quite a long time though, as she did have some other redeeming features. The next one was an old flame from school days and I hooked up with her when I was in the process of emigrating to Australia. she was a Saints fan, and we went to the 2003 Cup final in Cardiff, amongst others. Unfortunately, apart from supporting Saints and wanting to live in Australia, we had nothing in common any more either. Finally onto Mrs #4 (well, truth be known, I only actually married 2 of them, but the others were "defacto". I know that because they took my money when they left). Well Mrs #4 (the current, and hopefully final one) and I don't think she had actually ever watched a football match in her life (Australian...par for the course), but she "humoured me" and my obsession. I think we had been together a couple of years before I could scrape the cash together for a trip back home (thanks to Mrs #3 for clearing the account and ensuring that a large proportion went to the local solicitors benevolent - or should that be malovelent - account). Of course, the trip back had to coincide with the football season and I insisted she went with me to watch Saints v QPR in Sept 2006. I think we took the lead early but ended up losing 2-1. Despite that result, she was hooked, and every time we've been back (including a short trip back for JPT Final) she's wanted to go to every home game possible, and even wants to buy the kits every season. Luckily I've managed to restrict her to just a couple, and nothing since 2010). Apparently HER plan is for us both to take 9 months off, come over to the UK and combine touring around the country with watching every game in a season. I admire her ambition, but unless a small windfall comes my way, I can't see that happening until retirement!

My Missus has a season ticket, footy on the TV she's the first to tuned it over.

And to be honest she spots most of the donkeys playing for us long before most on here or the Manager For that matter and will back her observations as to why up.

Me playing Golf...................... Hmmmmm which way is the wind blowing??

Taking my American girlfriend to see Crystal Palace at end of Sept. It's the thing she's looking forward to the most on the trip! She has really gotten into it, and has her own shirt.

Reading this post again, it could be misconstrued as her having a Crystal Palace shirt!

How much of it did she see from Torquay?

I took my new wife to see Saints play Cardiff in Div 2 back in 1977. When Micky Channon scored our fourth she said "OH, the other team look so sad ...". At that moment I knew she would never really understand. In the 36 years we have been together we have hardly ever spoken about football, she just lets me get on with supporting Saints in my own way. What more could I ask?

Met my wife in the sixth form at school and some of our first dates were at the Dell in 1970 (how romantic I hear you say! - well it was!)

We went to university together and have lived abroad several times.

We've been married for 37 years, got three grown up children and have season tickets and we still go to quite a few away games.

First long term missus came along with me in the early 90's and was completely hooked. Even when I could not make it, she would go along without me. Did away games, midweek trips to Utd and so on. She cleared off with someone else eventually.

The next was almost as hooked, though stopped short of attending without me. We married and still every home game and about 5/6 away per season. Then she too cleared off with someone else and since the divorce, to make it worse, she has become a Chelsea fan, after I used to get hospitality there through the former CEO (though I never once cheered Chelsea on, no matter who they were playing)

The current missus has no interest at all. Zilch. Just to see what it was like, she asked to come to our home game against Bristol City a couple of seasons ago, when we had gone a year without defeat at home. We lost. She hates football and I am happier than I have been in a long time

My wife's from Cambridge and her old man in a Spurs fan, so naturally she had no interest in football when we met.

Got her into football by playing Pro Evo with me, as Barca. Then watching Barca CL games on TV. Then eventually to St Marys, a cup game against Luton on a freezing weekday evening.

Took a few games but now she's officially a fan. And she's never seen us lose a league game at home!

Post of the month for August.

Took my missus to watch 1 game, against Millwall when we relegated them (Mybe 4-5 years ago?)

We got the train from London in a carriage packed with Wall fans and had to march with them up to the stadium, before explaining to a policeman we were actually in the home end...

My missus (now wife) is american and had not really experienced anything like this before :)

She has not been since....

Cup game. I didn't tell her it was standing only in the away end and she wasn't too pleased because it ruined her afternoon nap. We made a weekend of it and stayed overnight in a hotel so I don't know what she was complaining about.

Not a big fan of Fawlty Towers either then?

When my wife was expecting our firstborn (8 months gone) she insisted on coming with me to West Ham (we lived in London at that time!) as she was bored and didn't want to spend a Saturday afternoon alone !

We took our places in the away end but just before kick off she felt faint and had to be stretchered off to the medical room with me in tow behind her !

Was advised that she should go home and rest so we missed the match and had to get an expensive taxi back !

Oh, and we lost as well !!

Never taken her since !

Me and my (soon to be) wife both have season tickets and go to the games together. It works for us, but I'll let you put me in the "Soppy t*ats who are ruled their birds" catagory if it pleases you ;)

took my (ex) girlfriend to watch Saints v Spurs at the Dell, in the cup, the Ronnie Rosenthal versus Bruce Droppalot.....we were in the Archers Road, with gloating Tottenham fans on either side. We left after the 5 spurs goal and walking up Archers Road, she said to me, "At least it was a good exciting game".

never again.
