Saint Charlie Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 Out of 100 how good was this lad? I will start the bidding at 39. He always tried and was good at roughing people up but actually pretty woeful as a defender. Thoughts?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 Dig dog to the forum please, dog dog to the forum.
Saint Charlie Posted 5 August, 2013 Author Posted 5 August, 2013 Think he still plays in the non league somewhere.
Appy Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 Think he still plays in the non league somewhere. Hampton and Richmond.
rshephard3 Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 005. Awful. To make a fraction, the . Would need to go before the figures. I assume you know that. Your current rating is pretty accurate, however. 5 out of 100 was roughly equal to the ratio of good games he had to bad.
saintrich Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 I remember leaving my mums 50th birthday meal early so I could get to Saints vs QPR on time - got loads of grief for that, but tried justifying it when Darren Powell scored after about 45 seconds. I think lost 3-2 & Powell was typically gash for the rest of the game.
OVER THE HILL Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 I think he punched Shane Long in the mouth during one game so that must be worth a few points
Saint Charlie Posted 5 August, 2013 Author Posted 5 August, 2013 I think he punched Shane Long in the mouth during one game so that must be worth a few points Plus mitigation due to the fact the coaching received during his time at the club was most likely awful.
suspect everyone Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 13/100. Awful. If we were losing towards the end of a match Dave Merrington would always demand we send Big Darren Powell up t'front. Ah the beautiful game.
scotty Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 I think he punched Shane Long in the mouth during one game so that must be worth a few points Agrees/w over the hill, worth at least 20 points there.
Saint_lambden Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 50. For fifty pence, the shape of his head.
Doctoroncall Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 I remember talking to a scout and he identified Powell as the weak link in the defence in what he did (eg. stay too close to opponent and was easily turned) and also was likely to get a booking with some dirty play! not a great player.
Lighthouse Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 Glass knees 50p head Toblerone feet Turning circle of a North Sea ferry As much pace as a herd of wild tortoise stampeding through a puddle of warm marmalade Sent of at least twice for punching another player All the subtlety and finesse of a WW2 air raid Apart from that a good solid pro.
dan abnormal Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 had a funny shaped head and was always quite rubbish. its a 7 from me

VectisSaint Posted 5 August, 2013 Posted 5 August, 2013 Fox is better than him, so i would say 3 Harsh
Chez Posted 6 August, 2013 Posted 6 August, 2013 if you needed a guy to trap a bag of cement, he wouldn't be the ideal choice. I'd give him 8 out of a 100. He gave his all in games and in the odd one he was effective because he won some headers, but by and large I rank him as the least talented footballing professional I have ever seen at the club. Fair play to him for making a career out of kicking people
saintedwill Posted 6 August, 2013 Posted 6 August, 2013 I always thought he had great potential...as a builder.
