dubai_phil Posted 3 August, 2013 Share Posted 3 August, 2013 Do you think it's safe after the latest terror update. Booked to go Tuesday Youll be fine mate, long way from the danger zones There have been events at Sharm so you should be careful. In the same way you should be careful in Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Don't walk round wearing Union Jack swimmers and don't give it large, then you'll be fine. there is a huge security cordon around the Tourist resorts in Egypt these days. IF anything is going to happen it will be to a US target.... like an Embassy or Consulate or a Marriott......
dubai_phil Posted 3 August, 2013 Share Posted 3 August, 2013 Oh, and just remember it is RAMADAN. So until 9th Aug don't go staggering down the street snogging the GF or some pick up in a Bikini
sotonjoe Posted 4 August, 2013 Share Posted 4 August, 2013 Just don't eat ANYTHING and you will be fine. Absolutely filthy country where even the 5 star resorts are rife with food poisoning.
CB Saint Posted 4 August, 2013 Share Posted 4 August, 2013 Never got the trots in Egypt having been several times unlike Bali where it was like knocking the top off a fire hydrant
bug187 Posted 4 August, 2013 Share Posted 4 August, 2013 I had ice in my Pepsi and spent the rest of the holiday on the toilet...even the Hilton was a crap hole. The beaches are beautiful though. The diving and so on is great. Some of the people there are lovely. Don't be tempted by the offer of smoking anything in the tourist shops. I suppose I should have known better but there we go! When I went I got bored of Sharm and flew to Cairo. Not sure I'd advise that at the moment though. Oh and the taxi drivers try and rip you off at every opportunity. I doubt I'll ever go back to Egypt..I got sick of them letching over my girlfriend and treating me like a piece of ****. Not a glowing review and the slums and how poor people were when I went into Cairo was awful to see Anyway, to answer the actual question my friend went a couple of weeks ago and had a great time with no problems at all!
