I have a contact who works at st.marys who has told me there are rumours going around that Remy is a possible target for saints, around 15 million

So you have a contact at SMS who says there are rumors, well yes but you don't need a contact within sms to tell you that just the internet.

He was reputedly on £70,000 pw at QPR. They paid £8M for him. He has not certainly not doubled in value after six goals in just 14 games for QPR.

If convicted he will be put in jail, for a long time. If innocent then great, but until then what person would not have mental issues with that hanging over them though- guilty or innocent?

So imo he is not worth £8Million to QPR at all right now. He's worth "get rid" at any price and get his wages off the payroll too, despite what arry says.

Why would anyone pay anything for a player that could soon be in prison? Value plummets overnight (and already has done by association) - sponsorship marketing PR image rights- all in massively minus territory....not only for player but for club that owns player.

He should play for free for a club like us until and if proved innocent - then we could talk a deal.

£15m is a joke. A couple of clubs have shown an interest and offered about £6m but they've been told to come back with offers above £8m to trigger the release clause in his contract.

Would £15m not be better spent trying to land Lukaku from Chelsea?

As Chelsea paid £10m (rising to £17m) for Lukaku, I would suggest they'd want more than £15m. Considering he has 3 years on his contract and the goals he scored last year, they'd want closer to £20m, and then he'd have to want to come here. One season at a club like WBA is fine, but Europe is where he probably wants to play...

probably want nearer 30 million for him but I don't think they want to sell anyway. Probably looking to move on Ba and Torres and keep Lukaku and Schurle

One of Cortese's finest negotiating moments! At the face-to-face meeting, QPR's negotiator offered £8m - "no less". Cortese unclipped his watch, set it on the table, and said: You've got ten minutes to agree to £15m plus £3m add-ons or the deal is off. QPR caved.

Edit: They also took his watch.

If we want to be seen as a 'big club' this is one of the hurdles we have to jump. However distasteful...

There's thousands of strikers in the world - I'd rather we signed one of them. There's no denying Remy has talent, but he also has baggage, is a money-grabbing crapweasel and could potentially cause disharmony within the squad.

Not for me ta.

To be fair Bearsy that's not a bad deal.

They give us 15 mil plus add ons and Remy for one of MC's sponsored watches

Keep Remy in the Dev Squad, use the 15 mil to big up the bid for a real diamond striker

So you don't believe in innocent until proven guilty?

Whilst that is how he should be viewed, signing him for big money before his trial is a huge risk.

I do. But why the hell would we want to sign someone for 15m who may be in jail in 6 months. Much better options. Let him go to a club with no morals like West Ham

I still don't understand why we're not in the race for Bent. I'd have thought he could do a job for us and for reasonable money.

One thing's for sure. We desperately need to strengthen up front.

Probably wages are an issue with Bent. Great player, cracking record but likely on big bucks

FFS , he is a half decent player.

Just because Redknapp signed him does not make £8 million too much money. What makes it too much money is the allegations hanging over him. IF and its a ****ing big if, we could negotiate a loan deal with an option to buy if he's cleared, and a cancellation if he's guilty, it would represent a half decent deal, or a free with a realease clause if found guilty, so he costs FA. Unless qpr do some sort of deal , they're going to get lumbered with him as as you'll be completely off your head to pay any sort of money for him.
