Lawro Predictions

when was the last time all 3 newly promoted teams went straight back down?

I think it was a while ago, would be interesting to know, but this year I think all three coming up are the weakest in the last few years overall.

Palace and hull I just can't see surviving.

Cardiff might, there may well be a shocker out there from a team that hasn't just come up. Newcastle are never too far away from self(/Ashley)-inflicted crisis, and Christ knows what Sunderlands scattergun transfer policy will turn up, might do them well, may be a calamity, time will tell.

Always one or two strugglers who aren't promoted sides. Can't see them all going down.

Sure they'll be an established side or two who struggle too. Newcastle and Sunderland done alright the season before.

Stoke/Fulham possibly next season...think Norwich will have a decent year, maybe WBA will struggle a bit more this year? Sunderland could go either way. Could push on or do a QPR it depends how they gel together as they'll have a completely new side next year.

How dare they not mention us!! More evidence of the anti saints agenda in the media.

Oh dear, somebody's put Turkish-bot on 'autopost'.

I actually don't disagree with many of the things you rip at on here, but my word does it get dull when posted ad infinitum.

On-topic: meh. Can't think of any media outlet or individual that regularly calls it correctly pre-season. Predictions are only really published to provoke engagement.

Not wanting to offend anyone, so why are we not at least mentioned as a possible top 6 signing ? Once again I think there is bias towards the big clubs who have spent more money on transfers than us. We will of course come charging up on the rails and shake up the league.

Because we'll be fighting relegation all season? You of all people should know this?

Surely nauseum?

The irony that he thinks he is a wiser, smarter and funnier tahn all others but is becoming tediously boring and completely predictable - actually like Lawro!

If you click on his name, and then click on the facebook link, you'll see that his location gives a good indication as to why he thinks we'll come bottom.

I guessed it would be something like that but ran out of interest shortly after posting...

Arsenal doing the double and City winning the Champions League aren't far off either, in terms of ludicrous predictions...

Preposterous prediction, he should be falling in line and see us at least in the top 10.

Why are you going so overboard with this pointless angle now? Have some conviction, give your opinion, back it up, and stick to it. If you think we'll finish 17th again this season, say so...

I'm happy to consider anyone's prediction if they back it up with a clear reasoning, but he hasn't done so, and given the clear consensus (amongst NON Saints fans) it clearly sticks out as a strange one, hence I'll be interested to read his blog (if he ever updates it) to see why he thinks that way.

Football broadcasting is worth so much now I suppose the BBC might not be able to offer competitive wages for the star pundits. However, their frontline team is far, far better than ITV's current crop and I bet they pay less. Their on-the-ground reporters are still as good as Sky's and Pat Nevin's one of the best in the business.

As pundits go I think Sky's Monday nights will be irresistable with Neville and Carragher both on the programme.

Such a lazy prediction for bottom 3. How he thinks that Saints will be bottom of the table come May 2014 is beyond me and Norwich will not be in the bottom 3 either. If you swap us and NCFC with Hull and Stoke/Sunderland I'd personally agree.

Why is it lazy to predict something different to other pundits? Surely it's lazier to just forecast Saints to be mid table just like all other experts.

Personally I think Norwich are a reasonable bet to go down.

Stoke will be fine and Hull could stay up. Both have managers with proven ability to deliver mid table Prem finishes. Something, funnily enough, Saints don't have.
