Norwich away

No thread on this and only a month away, so may as well start something off.

Still loads and loads of dirt cheap train tickets available from London Liverpool Street for this, £16 return without a railcard. ONly two away games in the more than two months after this one, so worth getting a day out in while you have the chance.

Will be going to this. I've got a friend who's a Norwich ST holder so will go up Friday for the weekend. I like Norwich as an away day, it's a decent night out too.
Never done the night out up there, should tick it off really, but can imagine it'd be a laugh, certainly no shortage of pubs up there.

Yeah Norwich is a pain to get to, miles away from anywhere. 4 1/2 hours from Southampton on the train but did it in just over 3 hours in the car last time I went up. I remember drinking at the Compleat Angler last time I was there for footy, think it was our last away of the playoffs season - good pub if the weather is good, right opposite the station and it's nice to be outside by the river when the sun's shining. Not far to the stadium from there either.

I've had some really good nights there, good pubs and bars in the city centre.

Just booked mine, a whole pound more expensive to go first class

On those trains a pound is probably fair value for the upgrade!

With a 16-25 railcard I can get from London to Norwich and back for £10.60!

Can i ask you what you paid for them and should i be getting them now rather than later.

I paid £21 in total, £13 for London Liverpool Street to Norwich and £8 for Norwich to London Liverpool Street.

I'd always book them as soon as you can, it's worth signing up to the notification emails from the rail companies so you'll be told when the advance fares are made available. It's usually 10-12 weeks in advance, but can vary for weekend travel depending on bank holidays and engineering works.

I've got my ticket up to Manchester for the game at Old Trafford already, but can't get the return leg on the Sunday yet as they've not released the advance tickets.

Edit: turns out the advance tickets on Virgin are available for that weekend, but most of them have already gone.

Tickets on sale from Monday. £35 for adults, bit dissapointed with the junior prices but there you goes. Whats the best station to get off, Norwich itself?

yep, Norwich station is pretty close to the ground!

Turn left from the station, then head for Morrisons supermarket, then just follow the crowd..

Cheers. Tickets arrived this morning. £43 on the train for me and nipper with a family railcard, can't moan at that.

If anybody has a spare ticket or ideally two I'd be happy to pay a bit over - I'd driven to Southampton (from home near Norwich!) and stayed over to be there first thing in the morning...really would be grateful if anyone has spare(s)?

Thanks in hope!

Are you still after tickets? I might be able to help!

If anybody has a spare ticket I will definitely have it. I've booked the train in advance but no match ticket. Will be going regardless and try to get a ticket by chance.

Getting the 8:30 train from central tomorrow morning, any decent pubs around the ground?

The Compleat Angler is opposite the train station, by the river, and is only a few minutes walk from the ground. Will be plenty of our lot in there. Pretty big outside area there too, weather should be decent tomorrow.

So where is best to go out in Norwich Saturday night?

If it's pubs/bars you're after, the 'Golden Triange' is good. Plenty of nice pubs and unlikely to see any aggro round there. We'll probably drink there then go to Karma later on which is more of a bar/club, music is good there. There's a Revolution but I can't remember exactly where, Waterfront is decent too. Loads of options.

Yeah I'm on the 7:43 from Basingstoke - gets into Norwich around 11:30. Compleat Angler by the river is decent from what I remember last time, and there is also a group of bars including a decent Lloyds (if there is such a thing) bar by the riverside.

Norwich has tons of proper pubs, why would you want to go to a Lloyds Bar?
