mulletsaint Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Quick look at Bet365 and I think Lambert Scored.
Saint Charlie Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Its what Adkins had to choose from. You really think if Pochettino had been managing Fonte and Hooiveld at CB and KD in goal against Man City, Man U etc would have been any different? Fact is, under NA we didn't beat any top half sides, and I don't think anyone above us even. We showed ides too much respect and spectacularly messed up tactically a couple of times when ahead, the most bing Stoke where we switched to a back 5 against a team with 10 men who just pinned us back. 1-1Lambert
jamesfp1 Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 How did Lambert score when he isn't playing? think about it

Batman Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Fact is, despite having a significantly improved squad, Pochettino didn't get any more points per game. Not did he have pre season. 2 years with majority of the players a transfer window........ You get my drift
Jonnyboy Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 (edited) Missed Lambo's goal edit: Mayuka's last goal for club! Edited 27 July, 2013 by Jonnyboy duh
Appy Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 I mean i'd rather we were playing good sides and won of course.
Saint Charlie Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Fact is, despite having a significantly improved squad, Pochettino didn't get any more points per game. He worked with the same players and certainly made us harder to beat and the pressing game was integral in he City and Liverpool wins.
shurlock Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 I guess you forget about the goals v City, both came from quick counter attacks with men flowing forward. Against Utd, we worked the ball forward, got it wide and got 2 great crosses in for 2 goals. We played some good attacking football, we were just stupidly naive and poor defensively. Plus some of the subs NA made didn't help the cause at all but we wont go there, No I didnt though we could have been 5-6 down by the stage. We didn't get it wide against united - the goals came from pedestrian buildup play with one of Lambert's trademark backpost headers and a gift from an evra slip. With the exception of Villa and City, we really weren't that good going forward, at least in open play. The Fulham and Wigan games epitomised our huff and puff approach.
buctootim Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 He worked with the same players and certainly made us harder to beat and the pressing game was integral in he City and Liverpool wins. Nil sum game now anyway. Points were about the same for both managers, but I enjoyed watching us more under NA.
CanadaSaint Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Friendlies are just as much about players playing themselves OUT of the reckoning as INTO it. For me, Jos must be fourth (or lower) on the CB depth chart, or we've still got a big problem.
DuncanRG Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Just tuned in to see Mayuka's goal. Well taken but keeper could have done better I think. Still, great to see. How's the game been generally?
jamesfp1 Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Only a hint of sarcasm in my post. With a splash of me not keeping up with the game or thread

Bwanamakubwa Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Should be three one up, trying to be a bit too clever and hit the bar
CanadaSaint Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Some nice little link-ups just starting to show.
Saint Charlie Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Davis has made a difference. Lovren also seemed to calm us at the back. 3-1 Isgrove I think
Bwanamakubwa Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 All of a sudden we have started to play and create chances. Three one up now.
Saint Charlie Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Much better with more mobility. Full time 3-1.
buctootim Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 How come its lighter there than here when they're an hour ahead and further South?
Olallana Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 This is the why they train hard, to last all 90 minutes while opposition gets knackered
Olallana Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 how come its lighter there than here when they're an hour ahead? Not sure but closer to the equator??
Saint Charlie Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Just played better when Lambert added a focal point to the attack and Punch and Isgrove injected some movement and energy out wide. In the first half JWP and Guly didn't look capable of creating a chance. Decent win against a good side but overall performance patchy.
buctootim Posted 27 July, 2013 Posted 27 July, 2013 Lighter further north this time of the year - Sweden being case in point.
