Interesting quote: "Cortese has signed two of the club's three main transfer targets, midfielder Victor Wanyama from Celtic and Croatian defender Dejan Lovren from Lyon this summer."

Should we assume the last main target is Damiao?

Yowza light blue touch paper and retire with that last paragraph.

(note I agree with the pay for your tickets concept)

He has created a stir in English football, at loggerheads with Saints legend Matthew Le Tissier and the club's former defender Francis Benali over various issues down the years.

Then there is frustration at the 'free-ticket culture' as Cortese refers to it, the sense of entitlement from ex-players, managers and staff to corporate hospitality and seats in St Mary's.

'I changed that and my staff agree with me. If you want a ticket you have to queue or call the box office, but they are not free.

'We have ex-players at games and we offer them hospitality, but they come on the condition they don't expect it to be free.

'Matt and his family buy season tickets and I don't have an agenda against him, but I don't think he can say the same. I don't know him, but there's nothing I can say.'

Or Osvaldo. Makes sense - 3 players to strengthen the spine.

I reckon it'll be Osvaldo.

Bit unnecessary, when was the last time Le Tiss mentioned NC?

Apart from that, nothing much wrong in the interview, bit hard to work out why it took place? Not many Chief Execs go out to the training ground and host sky/Daily Mail for a chat.

Interesting points are how closely involved he is on the playing side - dictating playing style for the team for example.

I must say it's quite important that we've got a football man at the helm. Too often clubs are run by businessmen with only a passing interest in the game or, mostly in the past now, blokes who lived and breathed the sport but couldn't run a company to save their lives.

Good comments from Nicola.

He may be controversial, he may be cold hearted, but he sticks to his guns and does what he thinks best for the club.

But look how the club has progressed. Fair play to him.

He might be a bit of a ****, but he's our ****.

Love the comment at the bottom of the page;

"A real non interview which tells me nothing other than how ego mad is Nicola cortese. He must really hate le tissier as he can never stop having a dig about him.I'm trying to think of another PL chairman that does these sort of ego interviews.

- upthesaints"

How arse-about-face can you get.

It really wasn't ....was used about 9 months before you got to it........ Check a certain Rallyboy and Milton Aggro's posts.

Three things:

1) two out three main targets

2) right Chambers going to be first team squad RB - would not expect 3 in squad so doubt signing.

3) pleased to hear comments about Jay Rod - could be big player for us

I would've thought it was Astori.

Concerned that we only had 3 targets. IMO we still have 2 glaring weak spots with no depth in quality.

The person who slagged him off in the comments section is a prize bell-end.

I think the word here is MAIN targets, doesn´t mean you have other targets too but that you think that some are more important than others.

3 MAIN targets. That actually means more than 3 including some strenthening. So you only have a difference of one. Clearly striker is the one glaring gap.

What I like about our chairman is he does all his business in private and refuses to play the game with the evil, anti-Saints-agenda lying scum media. Who'd want a chairman hawking himself around the media self promoting? Terrible.

He's done what? Has he? Oh, well, that's brilliant and perfect for raising our profile. Well done Nicola.

I wouldn't go that far, he's clearly driven and ambitious and like most successful business people has that ruthless steak but you need that to be successful. He may not be a nice bloke and the cup of tea for run of the mill ordinary folk with their meaningless humdrum existence but he's not a bellend.

You're being unfair. Keeping the Mail onside is pretty shrewd.

I'm amazed anyone has taken an article in the daily Fail (PMSL) we all know its an absolute sham of a paper full of lies and racism. Isn't it everyone.

They really hate us, don't they?

This thread is well on its way again like many others!

The comedy value is inevitable really with all the CLOWNS on here....

Get a life.

I agree. I can't believe so many people have been sucked on by a PR stunt from the club in a vile, racist newspaper. Some people really need to look at themselves!

Typical of this place for the usual suspects to discuss why Cortese gave the interview, rather than discussing what he said, or the reasons why the media are increasingly taking note of what we are doing here.

At least your contribution has been a great read, keep up the good work.

Please try to accept the fact that many of us still regard there being an issue at CB as well.

Although if it was a story you didn't like, that would be precisely what you'd do, isn't it?

The agents have an agenda, the journo made it up, and so on and so on.

Funny, aint it?

Always the same people. Always the same "wit".
