As the title says. When did this happen? Also wasn't he the guy who was Svens number 2 for England and Manchester city? I ask because of the following link of a player. [h=5]Southampton FC News and Updates

[/h][h=5]English Premier League side Southampton FC have registered their interest in Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike.

The 24-year-old, who plays for AIK Stockholm, has been a revelation in the Allsvenskan this season, as he is currently the joint second highest scorer in the Swedish top flight, with nine goals in 17 appearances, igniting the interest of clubs from more established leagues.

Southampton scout Tord Grip told SportExpressen.se that he has been watching Igboananike and has already recommended the player to the Saints.

...

However, he revealed that a move to England may be scuppered by the inability to attain a work permit, as Igboananike is neither an EU player nor a Nigerian international.

“He is not a Swedish citizen and does not have enough caps [for Nigeria], but there are several countries that may be interesting in him,” Grip said.

The player is valued at about €500,000 in the transfer market, but may see his value soar even higher now as bigger clubs have began to appreciate his abilities

Yes he does some scouting but not fulltime, he is a friend with Cortese and make him some favours according to an interview in Sweden a couple of months ago.

In the same interview he said that he only sent information about two players to the club at that moment, two bulgarian players. No names mentioned.

Think Grip does a lot of "freelance" scouting work. Clubs come to him for recommendations. I'd listen to him as well, especially when it comes to Scandinavia - there's nothing he doesn't know about those leagues.

Sounds like he could be very useful for us. Spot on again Cortese. Lets hope he unearths a gem or two for us. Just hope he was not behind the Forren deal though...lol

Did he recommend Forren? If there is nothing he doesn't know about the Scandinavian Leagues seems odd NC didn't ask him about Forren before we signed him.

Just what I was thinking :-)

No idea mate, but I know that Forren was being tracked by a lot of decent clubs which may have influenced us to make a move for him. Still think he's a good player but for whatever reason he didn't fit in with us.

Would seem a sensible person to at least have on the other end of the phone if needs be.

Certainly a very experienced guy.

I know it's cool to knock Sven, and he has become a bit of a joke, but he did achieve a lot, and in my opinion he is one of the better England managers since I started following football (el tel onwards in England terms).

Why are we so focussed on Forren? It didn't turn out well, we have absolutely no idea why, but at least we didn't get lumbered. I hope all our transfers that don't turn out well have such satisfactory endings.
