We need goals and letting Hooper go will probably come back to haunt us. If we can waste 4 millions on a Norwegian defender, we could do with having a known goal scorer like Hooper to take over from Ricky down the line.

 

Sorry ART but this thread is about Hooper who is not a known-goal scorer at the level at which Saints play. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 10-11 goals next season in the Prem if he adjusts well but I am willing to make a sizeable bet that he wont get more than 15 which is surely what we are looking for and I equally wouldn't be at all surprised if he is a total flop.

 

p.s. I would imagine given the circumstances of Forren's departure that he has not cost us 4 million

No idea how good Hooper will prove to be, but scoring more than 15 in a season would generally make you one of the league's top handful of strikers (over previous seasons 16+ would generally place you somewhere between 4th and 7th best in the league). Outside players from the top four clubs, those who get into that sort of territory usually seem more the unexpected purple patch type, than ones you'd put your house on.
