Have we really chasedhim for ages though......think it´s just one of those that reaccures every window cause we once perhaps were in for him....

You could well be right mate..... This just seemed to be played out in the press, so no idea if it was true or not.

Celtic will still win the SPL at a canter next year. But if their best two players go to a lower premier league side (as we currently stand) and a championship club what does that really say about them?

I really don't believe that Hooper will do that well for QPR. Will score 15+ but will not be the championship's top scorer.

If Celtic keep selling their "jewels", isn't there a very real possibility that both of the old firm clubs lose their grip on dominating Scottish football? Or are Celtic rich enough thanks to things like the Champions League to sustain it?

How are any of the other clubs going to get close to them without getting into the CL, and what kind of player is going to sign for a non-CL club and be good enough to challenge Celtic and the kind of players they can attract compared to the other sides ?

Even if better players sign for the smaller clubs, Celtic (and Rangers when they get back there) will be able to sign anyone who looks decent on a much better deal. Just the crowds alone give them a huge advantage.

Whether Rangers can get back to where they were immediately on return to the Scottish Premiership (as renamed today) remains to be seen - the first season back will certainly be an interesting one, there's a possibility they don't immediately come second !

Or rather they know there's no competition in the SPL, they'll never progress further than the semis of the CL and have decided to make a commercial decision?

I think you're forgetting how poor the standard of Scottish football is. Take out Celtic (and the Rangers of old) and any decent English championship team would win that league.

.......... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh well, 'Arry's got his ready-made excuse for not getting promotion next year. He tried one million per cent to get him as well.

Harry doing a great job to pave his walk out from there....

Isn't he just.

Two very public statements Bridge and now Hooper and neither deal materializes.

The hooper one is almost perfect and I find it hard to believe that the player didn't mention anything about Norwich..............So come out and tell the world what a great signing he will be and then look like the injured party when he signs for someone else.

Will be curious to see how he does in the Prem, but I wouldn't want him now. Think we're after higher level quality.

Agreed. Will be interesting to see whether or not he cuts it in the prem, particularly given the long drawn-out hype surrounding him.

So Saints had a £5m bid rejected but a Championship club managed my Harry Redknapp have their offer accepted. Clearly something dodgy has gone on. How does he keep getting away with it?

I have seen nothing to suggest we've even made a bid in the past 12 months, never mind had one rejected. The last report that we'd actually made a bid for him was January 2012, and we were a top 3 Championship side at the time.

There are loads of summer 2013 reports that we are "reported to be interested", but nothing that we've had any kind of interest or made a bid (i.e. those reports are completely made up).

He'll be a decent replacement for Holt for Norwich but I think they're signing him as an alternative to Van Wolfswinkel and may not use both of them together, pretty tricky to score from the bench.

There's no way Norwich are spending 5mill on Hooper to sit him on the bench.

Norwich very astute in the transfer market. WE could do with taking a leaf out of their book.

Everyone keeps saying this, and they have made some good signings on paper, but haven't bought anyone apart from van Wolfswinkel that would be a guarenteed starter for us.

Fer is promising but we are well stocked in midfield. Redmond is not currently anywehere near Puncheon, Lallana, Ramirez. Garrido & Olssen are decent, but nothing spectacular (and not as good as our fullbacks) and Carlo Nash is a Davis style backup keeper.

He's going to QPR anyway.

QPR are likely to submit a revised bid today or tomorrow which Celtic will accept. Norwich will match it. Hooper will then be free to negotiate terms and he wants to go to Norwich

My timing was out, sorry, otherwise you are welcome

Well, if we are not moving for Hooper, hope we have someone pencilled in or we are in for a long and disappointing relegation battle.

Yawn.

I'd imagine that judging by the fact we have been linked with Osvaldo, Damiao and Quagliaralla to name but a few that we are in the market for a striker. It would also appear from those names that we are after someone a cut above Hooper. I'll be ****ed off if we don't end up with a decent one and Hooper has a good season at Norwich, but at the moment there's still plenty of time to get a marquee signing in.

Strange. Why specifically do you believe the squad has gone that far backwards after no sales and 2 signings?

It would be ok if the other clubs had sat around all summer with their fingers in their noses. They strengthen so we have to strengthen.

We need goals and letting Hooper go will probably come back to haunt us. If we can waste 4 millions on a Norwegian defender, we could do with having a known goal scorer like Hooper to take over from Ricky down the line.

I must have missed something, but people seem to know all about Norwich's signings. I've not heard of most of them. Is this just a Football Manager thing or have people seen them play??

It's a combination of them being a likeable club and the emphasis on quantity over quality. They're signing a lot of players, so we must be behind.

You think Norwich are signing quantity over quality?

I have no idea, I think a lot of our fans are unaware of their quality but assume Norwich are doing good business cause they're signing in numbers. But Sunderland/PDC are infinitely less likeable and look more like a QPR-style rebuild, even though they've got some good players in themselves.

Norwich aren't really signing in numbers though. And their acquisitions to date look fairly decent.

They lost 1-0 to the mighty Portland Timbers last night, didn't sound amazing. I couldn't be bothered to go, it was bad enough watching them play us on TV last season.
