Horton Heath Saint Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 In less than 5 years with massive investment we have achieved where we want to be. After a real hard baptism last season, we held our own with some brilliant performances. How far can our Club go now? So far so soon! It's a great ride to be on!
BristolSaint Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Mid table safety this season and a good cup run in either cup
Mystic Force Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Alpine to think we will be relegated Turkish to be a nob in about half of posts and inciteful in other half MLG to correct people on small points Everyone to go into melt down everytime we lose and get excited about champions league when we win Most people to have seen a different game from me at full time. And saints to finish around where we did this year.
Mouldy Coat Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 I think we need another cb, creative midfielder and goal scorer as a minimum to achieve top 10. Even this would leave us with minimal quality cover in some areas (full back positions, centre back still and goal keeper). However, based on current squad we would be lower end of mid table. Additions will see us rise a couple of places per signing as above. (This s my guess!)
westmidlandsaint Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 With the current squad I would expect us in the 10th - 12th place bracket, with a couple more signings notably a top class striker I could see us pushing 7th - 9th

David Strover Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 With the current squad, about the same as last season. This board will be the same as last season with the exception of me trying to get more people to 'look at me' by posting once every three or so months. For instance 'look at me' I am currently on Salt Spring Island, BC, in Canada typing this....

We are still 3 or 4 players away from a good crack at the top 6.
Joensuu Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Alps, why shouldn't Mystic hold a mirror up to point out how others perceive certain posters. If you feel he's inaccurately portrayed you, perhaps you could consider moderating your posting style to allow us to all form a more accurate perspective? Just a thought.

Saint Garrett Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 The OP was about the team achievement, not the site. It was a bit of humour !! Don't take things to seriously Alpine!
berkshiresaint Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 As we are 12-14th, with the addition of some better players in certain positions, 8th-10th
alpine_saint Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 As we are 12-14th, with the addition of some better players in certain positions, 8th-10th Problem is, the other teams are doing the same.
Junction 9 Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 If we went into the season having just signed Wanyama and Lovren, I would say we would still be 15th or below come the end of the season. With more additions to the squad, especially a proven top level striker, then top half is possible. I can't see Lambert being the main man to rely on next season, he may surprise me and get 20 goals but I can't see it. Anyone taking of Europe is mental if you ask me, EVERY team we face will have strengthened in the summer, yet we are apparentley going to jump from a relegation battle to top 6.
Joensuu Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 In response to the thread - far to early to say. Current team would finish 9th to 15th. Throw a couple of quality players into the squad and 6th to 10th is doable. Ask this question in a months time and we might have a reasonable stab at an answer. Alps, fair enough the post was off topic, was that the only reason it got you choking on your Alpen?
Olallana Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Minimum Champions League and FA cup I can guarantee you one of those. We WILL be playing the FA Cup.
ottery st mary Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 About 10th and maybe pushing for 9th or even 8th:)
manji Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Depends on who else we sign.Pointless question at the moment.

Gemmel Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Mid table................ But going out on a limb, I think we will make a Wembley appearance this coming season.
mcjwills Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Mid table................ But going out on a limb, I think we will make a Wembley appearance this coming season. It will probably be coming on at a Craig David show ;-)
Dalek2003 Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 At the moment I see us being relegated or just above the relegation zone. If we sign a quality striker we could finish around 14th.

CB Fry Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 At the moment I see us being relegated or just above the relegation zone. If we sign a quality striker we could finish around 14th. Oh Dalek, what a hilarious troll you are. Do keep it coming next season, won't you.

sfc1976 Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 As of today we have signed an SPL player, and a bloke from the French league and who most Lyon fans think is pony. 13th/14th I would say.
DuncanRG Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 As of today we have signed an SPL player, and a bloke from the French league and who most Lyon fans think is pony. 13th/14th I would say. Tell me, if we'd have beaten Barcelona to the signing of Lionel Messi where would he have come from?

ART Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 SKY Prediction League has us finishing 17th! I was somewhat shocked when I saw what they give us. However, after last night it seems more of the same as the end of last season. No doubt we play nice football but just can't score under Pochettino's tactics and team selections. Schalka were well within the possibilities of being beat. I'm gutted as there seems something very wrong whilst the players are there to put together a top team.

You keep dishing out these fake opinions, flogged to death for your own personal amusement. It really is brilliant and so clever.
aintforever Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Top 10 is achievable, 7th would be be the highest possible finish this season IMO.
sfc1976 Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Tell me, if we'd have beaten Barcelona to the signing of Lionel Messi where would he have come from? Not sure I follow. Messi was part of the Barca youth set up from age 13 wasn't he? Lovren is 23, and Wanyama is 22.

A top CL team ahead of us in their preparation, a Saints team who had a training session that morning and had numerous changes and you're "gutted"? Che palle!
Killers Knee Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 With the current squad, Sky have it about right. I believe we are 2 quality signings from progressing on last year. Hope we get them.....
sfc1976 Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Santos, for £48m Sorry, not being rude, but no idea what this has to do with saints signing an SPL player and a French league player. The point I was trying to make, perhaps poorly, is that it's hard to see any considerable league improvement purely on the basis of these signings and a degree of improvement from last seasons players. Hence, 13th or 14th. Anyway, that's my three 3 strikes, have a nice evening.

S-Clarke Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 (edited) We need more quality and depth to finish in the top 10. With the current crop we'd probably still be in a relegation battle next year, we'd probably survive and be around 15/16th again. That's not because we have loads of bad players, it's because our 'best' players won't be available to play all year and the cover that has to come in simply isn't good enough at this moment in time (I'm sort of talking about the striking department more than most, but we also lack quality depth at full back). We'll sort that out though, as i'm sure the club is more than aware. We do have a good 11 though, but it's a ''strong squad'' which gets you through a long-hard season, not just the 11. I know we can't have world beaters in every position, but Fox is simply not good enough cover in the PL and Yoshida isn't good enough cover for RB, ever. Think we could do with a proper utility defender who can cover both full back positions and even CB if required. Edited 25 July, 2013 by S-Clarke
Saint_Jonny Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 I have niggling doubts, which isn't like me. Don't think we've built on last seasons squad enough yet.
S-Clarke Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 I have niggling doubts, which isn't like me. Don't think we've built on last seasons squad enough yet. Pretty much how I feel, although there's still plenty of time and we're clearly very active. 2 or 3 ''better'' players could make a huge difference to the entire makeup of the squad and the options available to us on the bench.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 I also think without another couple of quality additions to the squad we will struggle next season. Think we will stay up but won't finish any higher than last season. We are currently lacking the extra quality we need going forward to finish top ten imo We seem to be wasting all our time on seemingly unachievable transfer targets like Damieo, Osvaldo and Banega. Hopefully NC will make me eat my words but I am getting concerned that now the rumours are linking us with a whole load of dross no better than what we have already got. Have we missed out on our main targets? Feeling a lot less confident about the new season all the time we haven't addressed our striker and winger problems especially when all our rivals like Norwich,Swansea and Sunderland have seriously strengthened. Still plenty of time but we want to hit the ground running with our winnable opening fixtures hence why I want the striker and winger in very soon to have time to bed in with the squad and not be transfer deadline arrivals
