PRE-SEASON: Schalke 04 vs Southampton - (18:00 KO)

Few first impressions:

Wanyama is a unit

Chambers looks the business going forward

Reminder of how well we play football, we get the ball forward quickly, incisively and on the deck

Jay Rod looks very sharp, excellent movement

Puncheon always looks like falling over his own feet but somehow keeps possession

Bloody hell Lloyd fella, what a turn of pace. Could have taken a touch or two!

Puncheon always looks like falling over his own feet but somehow keeps possession

He's remarkably good at that, actually. Him and Clyney always find a way down the line even when it looks lost.

How strong a side is the Schalke one, what with them being that much closer to their start of the season?

Quite strong, haven't seen a list with subs but the only players I'm missing from the starting 11 that would normally play are Huntelaar, Farfan and Papadopoulos.

For a pre season game...we are doing very well..

Majority Schalke CL on display.....all in all a good test.

Our youngsters Chambers and Isgrove are not out of their depth and will give good options from the bench....

Chambers gives that option if Clyne had to cover for Shaw.

Wanyama is a good player and will fit in well with Morgan and Corky.

When the other first teamers come in ..we will have a decent unit /squad.

From TV view thought we looked OK

Dont like the socks looks like playing on Candy Canes

Shirt (sleeves) looks better than expected from photos.

Like the look of Chambers

also Isgrove

Puncheon involved a lot

thought J-Rod faded quickly

Didnt think Wanyama got in to it.

Twitter says its strong Schalke side, I wouldn't know.

2nd half coming up

Surprised we are being linked with a new RB (Look at the Tool thread about richards being at SMS at the moment by BJK)... I think chambers, shaw, clyne and target should be given a go. Although maybe I am more patient that NC. Looking solid so far... and the second half should see a stronger 11. Chambers is doing a good job, as are shaw and puncheon.

For those of us too nervous to download the software needed to watch the stream at work can someone please confirm the shape and the positioning.

If this is the shape of the front four then who are the $?:

Wanyama looks fantastic really solid midfield and we looks so controlling, some great pace from chambers and especially isgrove (shame he's gone off) we are by far the more dominant but seem to just die in the final 1/3. There isn't really any danger infront of goal from us, think a really confident striker is key and could change the side as VW and Loren have. Aside from that we still need to work on defending corners. Looking great for PS though
