Badger Posted 3 August, 2013 Share Posted 3 August, 2013 So you've now got a different shirt, in a different shade of red, with a different badge. Genius. But it will still look as unsightly as the bona fide articles which cost £30 more.
Dr Who? Posted 3 August, 2013 Share Posted 3 August, 2013 Done and done for a little over £20, with the proper badge and no sponsor. http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/V3_1_ProductPage.aspx?ProductName=adidas-tiro-13-short-sleeve-football-shirt-mens-football-teamwear-university-redwhite-60786 http://www.sparta-sports.com/southampton-fc-crest-3-iron-on-patch-554-p.asp Done and done for a little over £20, with the proper badge and no sponsor. http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/V3_1_ProductPage.aspx?ProductName=adidas-tiro-13-short-sleeve-football-shirt-mens-football-teamwear-university-redwhite-60786 A few points here. 1) I have not ordered 2) I do not want any gold on my Saints shirt, this is the whole point, as well as expense. 3) I do not like the new badge 4) well spotted that it is the wrong shirt, and colour 5) I think I will buy the black one and use our 'proper crest' it not will find the silver one somewhere. 6) it will be £15 cheaper and not have a sponsor. unionhotel Posted 3 August, 2013 Share Posted 3 August, 2013 Well, I've got mine! Expensive? Yes! But the profit goes to Saints so I have no problem with it at all. Besides, living amongst north-west teams' supporters it keeps my links with Southampton alive.

Bearsy Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 I wonder if Guly had a hand in the design? His G10 range of Guly designed clothing is making major waves in the fashion world. http://www.g10gulydoprado.com/ The statement in the world of football allows Guly to realize his plan to propose a style and culture, combining the simplicity of its origin and uniqueness of his person with a passion for fashion. Not by chance Guly personally designs its garments, paying attention to trends that, together with his being, give life to innovative achievements and unique in their kind. I would expect to see a few G10 items at St. Mary's next season. I know Turkish likes these:

The9 Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 I've heard the training gear used pre-season is not the stuff we will use this season, adidas had a cock up so we are using a template from last season with badges added Oh dear, the only thing that looked kind of good isn't going on sale. I'm amazed at how easily people bite on utter cobblers on this site.

The9 Posted 6 August, 2013 Share Posted 6 August, 2013 I'm sorry but that is going to look awful So basically just like the original then ? It was a bit of a shock to go into the shop after all the atmospheric black and silver pics on launch, to see it's actually plain old black and white ! I have now purchased the black away shirt (and a pair of the home socks, as they are in line with tradition and I got 10% off making them the same price as the identical ones sold by Stoke and Boro). I have to say the away shirt looks very nice - but who the hell thought selling the FORMOTION shirts - skintight - was a good idea ? I felt like Chris Hoy in the large, and even the XL is not exactly capacious. Turkish would have been delighted to see us selling them in 3XL as well... one lardo bought one when I was there. Home shirt - horrible design, horrible colours, nice fit because it's not FORMOTION, it's just ClimaCool (not that I've tried one on) Away shirt - nice design, nice colours which actually go, fit is unflattering on porkers (and we have a few). Training kit ? Still no sign of it.
studentsaint Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Heard recently that the club were close to having lotus as the clubs shirt sponsor at the beginning of the season. With the contract ending with aap this year, we could well end up with lotus as our sponsor next year which would be great income for the club along with the likes of eterna and sunseeker. The9 Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 (edited) Heard recently that the club were close to having lotus as the clubs shirt sponsor at the beginning of the season. With the contract ending with aap this year, we could well end up with lotus as our sponsor next year which would be great income for the club along with the likes of eterna and sunseeker. I doubt it, if rumours of their late u-turn this summer are true, I don't get the impression Cortese forgets these kind of things easily. Pretty sure that's also one of the reasons the away shirts were particularly late, I suspect we re-ordered them to get rid of the black/gold colour scheme that would have tied in with Lotus F1 AND the black/gold Saints badge on the early adidas promos. The rumour did the rounds on the massive pointless kit thread some time from April, I think. As it was they had to do the whole launch video and photo sessions with unsponsored shirts and photoshop/splice in the sponsors to the video later. The9 Posted 14 August, 2013 Share Posted 14 August, 2013 Hear, hear. I'm sorry but that is going to look awful, not even the same colour So you've now got a different shirt, in a different shade of red, with a different badge. Genius. Done and done for a little over £20, with the proper badge and no sponsor. http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/V3_1_ProductPage.aspx?ProductName=adidas-tiro-13-short-sleeve-football-shirt-mens-football-teamwear-university-redwhite-60786 http://www.sparta-sports.com/southampton-fc-crest-3-iron-on-patch-554-p.asp But it will still look as unsightly as the bona fide articles which cost £30 more. I saw a couple of blokes in the Kingsland with the £15 darker red Tiro 13 shirts on, from the Northam they were (nearly) indistinguishable from the normal Saints shirts. I only noticed because of the lack of ugly gold sponsor and the tiny white bits under the armpits - the colour was remarkably similar, in broad daylight. Course, why you'd want a non-authentic replica in the same style as a kit you obviously dislike, I can't quite work out.
The9 Posted 15 August, 2013 Share Posted 15 August, 2013 now with someone like adidas, will I be able to buy this schit down in the west country? Nope, same distribution deal in terms of outlets, Saints control the two Southampton outlets, not sure whether there's still the store on the IoW with exclusive rights as well like there used to be, but no, Pompey's SportsDirect.com controlled Sondico kit will be available in many more stores than the Saints kit. We'll still sell more than them though, even of this crappy red number.
Saint Garrett Posted 19 August, 2013 Share Posted 19 August, 2013 Adidas's main site has all their Premier league kits except ours. The9 Posted 20 August, 2013 Share Posted 20 August, 2013 Adidas's main site has all their Premier league kits except ours. The store on Oxford Street has loads of clubs, domestic and foreign, but not ours. Why is this? We have the same restrictive distribution deal in place as we did under Lowe with the Saints Apparel branded shirts, and the 5-year Umbro deal. Obviously Cortese (like Lowe) thinks there's more money to be made from keeping the price high and all the profits, rather than diluting the amount you can get per item by allowing others to buy from the distributor and set the price themselves. The likes of Man U have managed to stop the likes of Tesco reselling their shirts for £20 now too, makes you wonder what clauses they have in their distribution contracts to keep the price high. The loss of JJB and therefore any competitor to SportsDirect is also keeping shirt prices higher than they were, you can't get many £10 shirts on sale from SportsDirect any more. The only time I've seen ANY Saints kit through a national distributor in the past 15 years was when SportsDirect.com somehow flogged off a load of the black away anniversary shorts and socks (they actually had some in the West Quay store for a short while too) at the end of the L1 promotion season, and I'm guessing that was because they had so much of it left. Since then, unfortunately for the customer, Saints' policy seems to be to NEVER reduce the price, even when the supplier no longer exists and it's just dead stock. I assume the leftover kit now goes to Saints Foundation, though that's just a guess.
