The talk between JM & RL wasn't as positive as everyone assumed. RL has been told what he needs to do.

If anyone goes first, it'll be Ba.

FFS what is Jose doing tapping up Rickie Lambert? We should get the FA on him.

LOL reading this thread you'd think he was some kind of a footballing god.

He's a very decent player and certainly tore us a new one at SMS but don't forget we were seriously poor that afternoon.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't take him in a flash if he was available but he's not quite the superstar yet and he's not as good as Osvaldo IMO.

I spent last season teaching right next to WBA and the fans thought him immense. Raw yes and liable to miss the odd sitter, but top draw.

To suggest they think he was average is simply wrong.

Remember seeing a poll on one of the WBA papers or forums......

would you pay £20m for Lukaku

Yes was something like 7% vs 93% No's

Thing we can offer the other players we have been linked with is a big money move to English prem - he has that already so maybe harder to attract?

17 goals with 22 starts last season.

Only just 20.

6'3

16 in 37 as teenager for anderlecht.

Think one poster is trolling!

So Lukaku + Bertrand for Luke Shaw........would you?

Just hypothetically.........

If you forget about emotional attachment to academy players and our desire to bring them through to the first team, that's a no-brainer. A young full back who looks like he might reach the top is great, but young strikers with that much potential are worth their weight in gold.

Slightly off topic, but they are actually worth far more than that. Its an indication of how overheated the PL has become that a 12 stone player is worth £20m in transfers but only c£2m in gold. http://www.onlygold.com/tutorialpages/yourweightingold.asp

Torres is a strange one - he's absolutely brilliant for Spain and very good for Chelsea but not good enough to lead a title challenge. He's got some serious confidence issues at that club but given the right move he might flourish again. I wouldn't go for him because 1. He would cost more than the players we're looking at now and 2. he is a gamble, and not the kind you take on young players. If he were to flop with us then his resale value would plummet. To be honest I doubt we'd want him or he'd want us anyway, a return to Spain seems the obvious choice.

THIS! Anyone who thinks any chance of us getting Lukaku is a bad thing is going full on stupid.

Someone enlighten me???

Why is everyone on SWF sucking Lukaku's d1ck?

Facepalm-Moving.gif

I'm a fan of Lukaku but I dont see any :rule1:'s on people sucking his manpole.

Hes a player still 6/7 years from his peak, hes big and powerful, hes a proven goalscorer in the Premier League. Plus a couple of times last season that I saw him play he was conjouring stuff out of nothing.

Im not saying he's the finished article, and out of him or Benteke I'd perhaps still plump for Benteke (even though he's not the finished article either) but he'd still be a cracking signing. We wont get him though, even if he were available I'd see a bigger side after him.

Lukaku is potential.

The other targets have proven themselves at their club & International level

Lukaku fits our profile, however I would still see SRL as first choice at the start of the season whereas with Real Diamond I wouldn't.

Torres on the other hand would fit our style of play, and away from the pressure of challenging for the title would be less of an unknown and with the right support could go back to his Liverpool form. He does not of course fit our profile and his wages would be an issue.

Tough call between them, glad I'm not a member of the transfer committee.

But FFS just making a bid for Lukaku. Dreamland, but I won't go all Corp Ho & Riquelme on it.

He might be able to perform to a higher level if he moves but you can forget about him reclaiming his Liverpool form, simply because his pace is gone. He's turning 30 this season and pace was his whole game at Liverpool.

I think it would take someone truly exceptional for Cortese to spend £25m+ on a 29 year-old, and Torres is not that man.
