JPT Final

At the time someone from Wembley said that it was closer to 60,000 Saints fans, but there's no way of proving it.

Although I think it may have been tongue in cheek, there was certainly more than 44,000 Saints fans there. Easy to work out when you look at the ticket sales.

73,476 tickets sold in total (Saints, Carlisle and Club Wembley).

Carlisle only sold around 22,000 tickets, leaving 51,000.

It's fair enough to say that some of those club Wembley tickets might have been Carlisle fans as well...if it weren't for the fact that they didn't even sell their full allocation and actually returned over 2000 of them.

That means that there were "officially" 7000 neutral fans watching the game. Seems a tad unlikely to me.

We had over 50,000 fans there - the skates can deny it all they like, but it's the truth.

Officially we had 44000 and Millwall 49000. We completely sold our allocation, and as stated over 10000 bought club Wembley seats. Millwall didn't quite sell out. According to journalists at Wembley on the day Saints had about 55000 at Wembley which is an unofficial record for one side at a final

But dont forget when the Skate Massive attend the JPT final being the largest club in league 1 and 2 they will take all 250,000 fans that were on Southsea common. That will certainly show us, and we know they all fill the rafters at Krap Nottarf.

I didn't think they were going to bother with the JPT, it being a two bob trophy and al that.

A significant number of Saints fans based in the North of England were able to buy their tickets from Carlisle. A number of threads appeared on here at the time and people needed only to provide their Post Codes when they went on general sale.

Meanwhile skates @Wembley. How did the ticket sales for their last fraudulent appearance pan out?

Their ticket offce were ringing people up off their database trying to sell them a few days before the cup final. The bestest fans in the world struggled to shift 25,000 tickets for an FA Cuo final.

Yep, that's the figures I remember, for some reason Millwall got 5,000 more than we did, can't remember why, although they claim they also had more than that there and about 55k too.

I think we should be careful about claiming that all the 000’s of saints fans that were at the JPT were actually saints fans. I know many that went up there, who happen to be from the Southampton area, who went purely for the day out, who actively support other teams like Chelsea, Spurs, Leeds etc. Some had never been to a football game in there life let a alone a saints game. Many of those have never been since. I’m sure everyone knows of similar people, so if you multiply that, it probably adds up to quite a number.

Having said that without doubt the same can definitely be said about Millwall, I’d say that 75% of those that went to the semi final hadn’t been to a Millwall game for years if at all.
