He did well at Carlisle didn't he? I remember he was loved by their fans during his little stint. I think the pathway could be similar, I think we've outgrown him and I don't believe he'll be a PL player but I'm sure he can make a name for himself in the EFL.

Yeah, he did.  Had spells at Tranmere & Morecambe, too.

Badly timed injury for him & a nasty one too  Like you, I think he'll do well in the EFL - and the beauty of that is, if you get the right club, you can climb very high up the pyramid.

Wrexham could be a good gravy train to jump on for players like him.

I can only imagine the scholars list will be updated later because one of them has definitely left.

7 were out of contract so not surprising that some will be leaving.

That retained list published today says it was correct as of 18 May - so sounds like it is out of date already

Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the 7 you have listed. I only know for sure of 4.

Josh Squires left to go to the USA on a uni scholarship.  Ethan has done the same.

Diamond Edwards is training with Port Vale.

Luke Pearce was released.

So that’s a free transfer permanent for him.

That's a good move for him. Always thought he was a talent, albeit overlooked slightly by the likes of Ballard, Morgan and Doyle.

Simeu had a bad injury picked up last summer so he's been rehabilitating to get back to full fitness. I'm sure he will find a side in league one or two. Wish him well along with the other three who have been released.

i saw him play for Carlise the season before last and he was excellent. He's definitely good enough for league one, maybe even championship

Diamond Edwards was highly regarded, I remember he featured in pre-season under Ralph a few years back. Got a nasty injury in that pre-season though which was probably the end of it for him here.

Shame really, I think he could make a career at the lower levels though.

Shame - I saw him a bit pre-injury and he looked really promising. That injury really screwed him. I really hope he gets to play regularly and can shoot his way back up the leagues.

Do we have any reliable links to prove Tyler Edmondson and Ethan Hartness leaving?

I'm also trying to work out if Isaac Bailey, Alfie Prescott and Regie Evans are still at Saints? Or if any other youngsters have left as the club haven't released information on youth player departures this year like they normally do.

Tyler was playing with QPR for a bit last season and had been at Bournemouth recently, not sure if they are taking him on or not.

Tyler is leaving as per @The Cat

Ethan H has left.

Isaac B has left.

I *think* Reggie left.

Alfie P is staying last I heard.

I think I’ve asked you this before, but who does your son play for ?

Expand

He doesn't play anymore but played for Sholing and Southampton Schoolboys with Tyler and went to school with him.

He's just finished college now, a few of his ex team mates are playing Wessex League for Hamble or were in U18's at Eastleigh. One was signed by Cheltenham. Have to see where some end up next season.

Think our sons have played in the same team.

The one from Cheltenham (AW) I believe has been released.

My son was also at Eastleigh and played for Fareham and Gosport schoolboys.

Ahh, nice.

My son was the keeper for Schoolboys and Sholing and has long hair. If they did play for the same team or against each other you'd probably know who he is.

I didn't know AW had been released, I haven't seen his Dad for a while.

Yes I do remember him, a very good keeper, better than Bazuna 😁

Sholing were a team of giants, our lot (Whiteley) were midgets in comparison.

That Whiteley team were good, and yes did have a few small players!

Remember 2 games in Hampshire Cup between them, one the final which Sholing won and then Whiteley got revenge the next season by knocking them out in the 1/4 final I think.

I tried to DM you but am guessing you aren't a full member?

Will be interesting to see where some of the lads turn up next season. There were some very good players at that age group.

Update from my son. Tyler is at Eastleigh now. Signed for the U21's or whatever they have there but has been training with the first team and started in their friendly yesterday

Good news for him, bad news for us if that means they’re planning on him leading the line next season.

Expand

Of course he's a solid part of our 11 for next year, it would be odd to think otherwise. He deserves a crack after 24 goals for us last year, forget what happened before and see how he is in this environment.

He never led the line for us last year though, he came in from the right or left - I expect he will continue with that role, and we'll have someone else leading the line profiting from his running.

He was one of those entering his final year, so of course we had to offer him a new deal. Protecting his value and rewarding him for his efforts last year. No brainer for me.

Adam Armstrong spent the vast majority of last season out wide, he only occasionally played as the central striker.

The central striker role in 2024/25 will probably be a 'Che Adams replacement', Ross Stewart, Sekou Mara or Adam Armstrong (occasionally).

AA played up front in the play off final and didn't do so badly. He's perhaps the main reason we just got promoted. He'll be part of our first XI and he's absolutely deserved it. I agree he's not a line leader but he didn't play too often there last season and was better out wide... but he can do a job there if required.

Anything over a ten goal return this season and he's done very well.

Sure. Would you like the quote for my research fees in sterling, euros or dollars? ;)

MLG is right. SC is not an ideal swop for O’Riley. But Charlie might be. Charlie did not turn Juve down- would he turn down the chance of some CL nights at a raucous Celtic Park?  ( And I think they would love him btw).

And seeing as Celtic are also looking at wingers and another FB Kameldeen and James Bree are also possibles.

Celtic need get replacement (s) resolved quickly - ie before star man O’Riley leaves- so swops and bundle deals could save them a lot of time.
