Luke Shaw Signs 5 Year Deal - Official

Maybe if you're Jim Rosenthal. I think it looks terrible.

Turkish will know.

Christ, people are even listening to Turkish's fashion advice these days are they? I may be forty but those of us with an eye for fashion have been buttoning up for a few years now. If you're a chav or sports casual man by all means show a bit of chest.

Anyway, good on yer Luke, and Happy Birthday!

Correct. When writing an article you typically type a name in the search and select from what is provided.

Getty Images do have one of JWP tagged as 'Luke Shaw'. I've found that error myself when writing and using their images.

I use a few photo agencies for photos of players in my line of work, and since getty have the credit it would look like they've labelled it wrong, although it's usually easy to spot since if they searched for Luke Shaw and a dozen images came up of Luke Shaw and one picture comes up of JWP you should be able to tell it's a different person, and if they look even a little different check the numbers on the kit (as that will probably be a cropped shot where a number was visible on the shorts), pretty sloppy.

For the first time since I have been following Saints WE ARE NO LONGER A SELLING CLUB

Where have you been? The last player I remember being sold against our wishes was Ox (£12m to a L1 club, iirc) & most (if not all) of our first 11 are contracted for the next 3-5 years. Punch is probably the best example how NC deals with players looking for a move.

Happy Birthday Luke.

This lad has been perfectly straight with the club all down the line - he said months ago that he'd sign a pro contract here and he has now done just that. That however didn't stop some mugs on here assuming his word meant nothing and he'd be off to a 'bigger' club at the first opportunity. One can only hope they feel suitably embarrassed this morning.

I suppose it's dangerous to draw too many conclusions from just one impressive season, and the reality of so much, so young, can lead a young man to go 'off the rails' on occasion - but not in this case methinks. Luke's future is looking so bright right now he should be waring shades.

I expect he can afford a really nice pair now ...

Yes, but this is the first big challenge since Ox, and we've held on to him, from Alf Ramsey, Ian Black and Charlie Wayman through Martin Chivers to Alan Shearer and all the modern ones we haven't been able to do that Cheers!

Good news, not unexpected by even so great we've managed to keep him for a while.

Without wishing to go all happy clappy there probably isn't a better club in the country for a young player to be at. We are a progressive club and proven that if young players are good enough there is a place for them in the first team squad.

You feeling ok? There isn't one sarcastic comment in that??

Not for adults.

Of course, how silly of me, once we hit our late twenties we should start dressing like an aging geography professor.

Anyway, it would seem my intention of a light-hearted dig at someone who obviously didn't have their fingers on the pulse of fashion is in danger of derailing a thread containing some great news. I'll let you get back to your over-size Burberry polos, and white Reebok Classics.

A bit hungover but fine thank you Garrett and thanks for asking. As I've always said praise the club where possible and criticise when necessary.

Superb post, couldn't agree more. Are you sure nobody has hacked your account?

How long is it now since a player was sold by SFC that the club would have preferred to keep? Was Chamberlain, in August 2011, the last one? In retrospect his decision to go to Arsenal, just as Saints were about to storm the Championship and get the second consecutive promotion looks quite wrong-headed compared to Shaw's decision to commit to the club that brought him through. Had Chamberlain stayed at Saints, there is no reason to think that he would not have been selected for England in 2012 and he would be more high profile in the Saints team than he is at Arsenal. Shaw comes to work by the Southampton Waterside in one of the nicest parts of the country, whereas Chamberlain has the questionable joys of north London.

That's what I like most about you pal, knowledgable, humorous and above all else, humble.
