Forren and Chaplow depart

Good luck to Chaplow. Always felt he gave his all when he played for us. Helped in our rise for sure. Will always remember the Utd cup goal he scored.

As for Forren.....can't really say much as obviously never saw him play! Seems a very strange decision. Maybe he couldn't settle, maybe he didn't fit in with MPs plans. Who knows.

Certainly need another CB now...Hooiveld not up to the level we want to be at and not sure Fonte is near that either.

Hasn't Wanyama also played CB for Celtic?? Not saying he's the answer but that versatility could come in handy. Maybe.

All the best to Chappers... was terrific in a few really good spells for us. That spell before Christmas in the Championship he was first name on the team sheet. High energy player.

Forren, well I only have a few reports from his run-outs for the reserves/U21's to go on. He seemed to be not very good with only a few posters trying to see positives in him IIRC. All the best. Shame for the lad as well though.

Some nice words from Chappers on twitter. Top man. Always used to talkto the fans on twitter in the L1 days....guess they got a bit stricter over the last few years.

End of a chapter, start of a new one! Loved every min and I'm privileged to have been part of it all, what a journey it was #saintsfc

Fans have been amazing cant even sum up in a tweet how much ill miss the whole club ❤

Does this mean we will be back in for another defender? I would have thought so unless MP saw enough to suggest that yoshi, fonte and jos will be good enough.

depends just how good Wanyama is at CB I'd think. I've no idea personally but it could be one of the reasons we were so desperate to sign him cos to me 12.5 million is a lot of money for just a DM. However if he really is a utility player and can double effectively at CB when necessary that bumps up the price.

....and the best £50,000 we've spent in the past few years. Great goal against Man U too.

Adkins confirmed he didn't know anything about Forren.

How strange - I suppose Pochettino just didn't like the look of him when he arrived. I did notice on the Preseason Uncovered that he wasn't looking as fit as I was expecting, either...

I'll miss Chaplow. He was always one of my favorites, even if I knew he wasn't the answer to get us into the Champions League. I guess deep down I was hoping he might magically step it up and improve despite the lack of logic to this hope. I will continue to follow the guy in his journeys through the lower leagues.

Tbh he consistantly bought a load of crap. But I agree, why would they let him buy Forren if the intention was to sack him ?

Its a V strange signing

No smirking it was an awful impulse buy by your beloved, he knows nothing of the game, it wasn't strange at all, it was ****.

I'd be happy with Lovren and Yoshida as first choice pairing and Hooiveld/Fonte as backup, but I'd be surprised if we didn't go in for someone else now. This Sorenson fella from Bologna?

Professional football manager knows nothing of the game

Cortese and Les know their stuff I will give them that.................................

I don't think anyone is going to argue that this wasn't a poor signing, get over it, at least we aren't having him sat around for the next few years.

Wow that's a surprise. I thought that Forren was being trained up for next season! Clearly he hasn't settled. A shame, but it does explain why we've still be looking to sign another centre back despite signing Lovren. I bet Jos, Jose and Maya are happier at that news. I do hope we got our money back. It seems as Liverpool were interested we may have spunked our load too soon.

Still can't get them all right. Chaplow was one we got right though. An inexpensive signing and he put in some good shifts for us. He scored against United too - that's a memory for him. Best of luck baldie.

As I recall, Forren was 'stolen' from under the noses of Liverpool who were going to give him a week's trial, but with Adkins already on the way out, it had to be a Reed/Cortese decision, although I thought something was said about MP being asked if he approved the signing. Altogether a sad episode and I still can't understand why MP didn't give him a run out for all or part of the last game of the season.

Absolutely agreed. Chaplow added bite to our midfield when we needed it. Always appreciate his efforts in both of his spells with us, and I am certain that he will get a championship club - good luck Chappy :)

Forren I wish well but having never seen him play can't judge.

Liverpool gave him a trail and allowed him to go back to Molde, we didn't steal anyone in this Scandinavian Andy Carroll saga........................
