Sour Mash Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 Anyone know if Forren actually spoke decent English? Can't say I ever saw an interview with him speaking and might explain why he didn't fit in He spoke fluent English.
S-Clarke Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 I wonder if he was actually any good? Weird, weird, weird. First time a club have ever paid 3-4m for someone, yet never played them, and sold them for almost the same amount 6 months later. work that out. Olallana Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 Quite amusing reading back on this thread: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?45240-Echo-Confirms-Forren-quot-Signed-For-Next-Season- Amusing yes because of some opinions in that thread. But the story in itself is pretty much standard. Of course club and agent should "protect" the player in the situation that was...
Saint Charlie Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 I wonder if he was actually any good? Weird, weird, weird. First time a club have ever paid 3-4m for someone, yet never played them, and sold them for almost the same amount 6 months later. work that out. Would imagine it went something like this: We had other high class CB targets ie Astori but couldnt agree deals for them (nobody likes letting good players go mid season and players wouldn't be overly keen on joining a club who could have got relegated unless you pay ludicrous wages). We knew we needed as CB as it was our weakest area, and got Forren who had a good reputation and was available for a good price. Once he started with us, the staff weren't overly impressed with him (PL is a tough, unforgiving league) and he just wasn't up to it.
St Marco Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 Quite amusing reading back on this thread: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?45240-Echo-Confirms-Forren-quot-Signed-For-Next-Season- Very amusing. For some reason I must of missed that one. I especially like the bit where the players agent says he was signed for next season. The way Turkish and co are going off on a "I'm right, I'm right, look at me, I'm right!" crusade I was expecting a load of comments from people saying how it was right. When in fact that thread does not seem like that at all. It seems exactly the same as every other thread. The usual guys arguing over something that is quite silly. And even then that argument isn't about next season it is about how much a final game of football will cost us.... But yeah it is very amusing..... millsy Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 I don't think anyone "shouted down" you or anyone, as all you can do is type a post and it comes out at the same volume. Back in January, I was at Eastleigh Airport catching a flight to Edinburgh. The squad were there at the same time flying up to Manchester the day before the Utd game. They split into groups in the departure lounge. Lallana leading the yoof. SRL, KD and the oldies. The Spanish speakers and.... Forren, who sat on his own reading his I-phone and then wandering lonely to the back of the queue and not speaking to any of the others. Possibly reading too much into this at the time, but it was very noticeable. Same thing on the Pre-season uncovered video at Stapelwood. Noticeable how all the other players are chatting with each other and Forren seemed outside the group.

Maybe not a panic buy but surely they felt the need to get someone in and he had probably a decent scouting report but when in action he came up short... DuncanRG Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 We should have asked him for a trial. The issue with that would have been that he'd just finished the season - the club gave him time to rest and work back to fitness. Clearly he didn't hit the expected levels of performance or fitness. Maybe he was homesick or something? Who knows.
The Cat Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 I pulled that trick on someone the other day. Everyone knows it not true that something really important just happened but it is just a quick fix to avoid some inane conversation about the weather, new signings or whatever. Maybe he's just shy, you know, like the girl at school who'd always look away quickly when eye contact was made before running off down the corridor. That's what she used to do to me anyway. Lowe signed Delgado, Gray wanted Forlan for 350k Forren ? No idea, but I cant see it being Nigel, not his sort of player, i.e not lower league. saint-ross Posted 11 July, 2013 Share Posted 11 July, 2013 This is professional top-level football, not sunday league. If this was an ordinary mundane job you would still be embarrassed for someone who makes this immature choice. If you can't honour a contract you signed with a premier league footbal club after having a difficult first few months then you are a pussy, coward and weakling in my book. Hope he rots in that small time club and sh*tty country. T@sser! Mate, you havnt got a clue why he's gone back. To make this assumption and slag off this guy, who you don't even know is quite simply shocking. There could be any number of reasons why he's gone back. Have you ever considered that it was the cub who screwed HIM over? I'd wait for facts before looking like such a tool. Oh wait, its 110_Persaint - nuff said.
