Forren returning to Molde

Lallana's Left Peg

Good day to bury bad news ay? The fella always looked so bleeding miserable in any 'behind the scenes' footage, so can't say I'm too surprised. Would have liked to have seen him given a game or two but Poch clearly didn't rate him. I wonder whether this was based on fitness issues rather than technical abilities as he is clearly rated by some in the game. Nevertheless, a bit of an embarrassment for our scouting department and 'transfer committee' whose remit was surely to secure a CB who would immediately steady our leaky defense. Strange that if Poch's appointment had been lined up for a while that he clearly wasn't consulted about Forren coming in. Not too sure whether we will bring another CB as it will halt progress of Stephens/Turnbull. If we do then I see Jos or Jose being shipped out...

I know the season times are different out there, but it seemed to me very very odd that when he signed he got 0 minutes for the club despite the outlay.

My guess is that MP simply does not fancy him. If that is the case and we have arranged them to buy back, then look at it as a loan. Very strange but if he is not going to play need to recoup what we can and free up a wage.

This was not a MP signing so presume it was a NA signing and somewhat of a panic one given the state of our defence on occasions. IIRC he arrived the same day as MP (or +/- 1 day). I don't see it as a total farce, just the signing of a manager who lost his job. Why he was signed when NC knew that NA was getting the chop is the question. Maybe he too thought that it was imperative to get a defender in. Although he wasn't used, if it costs a few bob, then why not just look at it as an insurance policy so that we stayed up to benefit from the massive increase in TV revenue.

Just six months after joining #SaintsFC, Vegard Forren is returning to former club Molde. Pochettino & Co unimpressed by Norway defender.

I am told #SaintsFC will not not lose much money on the Forren deal. Official announcement expected soon, along with another departure.

Maybe he hated living in England? Personal issues? As fans we have no way of knowing.

That won't stop some making their minds up however and blaming the player, MP, Cortese, the transfer committee, or whoever else comes to mind.

Good luck to him if this is true, onwards and upwards for us.

SouthamptonFC: #SaintsFC has today mutually agreed to terminate Richard Chaplow's contract, while Vegard Forren has rejoined former side @Molde_FK.

What a strange deal this was. Do you know what though? - Fair play for not messing around and getting rid if he's not in MP's plans.

Maybe we seriously are looking at that Frederik Sorensen from Bologna or dare I say it, Astori?

I would say this would definitely see us looking at another DC.

Think MP said Astori was a no-go before we signed Lovren though, so can't see us getting him.

So do we all agree they those who said that the stuff about him being signed for next season was a load of crap were correct then? Some on here were indignant it was a brilliant strategy and shouted down those who questioned it.

That make Chaplow's tweet from earlier today seem a bit strange.

Yep, got to laugh looking back at it.

It is possible that some at the club said something along the those lines, perhaps to give him time to settle in and adjust in the hope that he might come good. Of course, saying that is one thing, whereas those who were adamant about it and getting 'indignant' about it (although i'm not sure it was that bad) were clearly overdoing it. As always we won't know, but what's the point of raking it back up again now? He's moved on, we've got better (and possibly more to come) so thanks and goodbye.

Can't be bothered to look but I bet MLG has slammed someone before who has dared to criticise Forren. Something along the lines "why would the club pay X amount of money for a player they do not plan to play." or "Ponchettino (sic) had the final say over this transfer, he will be a big part of next season."

And that was necessary why exactly?

This is professional top-level football, not sunday league. If this was an ordinary mundane job you would still be embarrassed for someone who makes this immature choice. If you can't honour a contract you signed with a premier league footbal club after having a difficult first few months then you are a pussy, coward and weakling in my book.

Hope he rots in that small time club and sh*tty country.

Yep, MLG was definitely one of those who slammed anyone who questioned why he wasn't playing. There were others too. I don't include Monk in this, he's a good guy and usually spot on and one of the few on here who knows what he's on about.

I don't think anyone "shouted down" you or anyone, as all you can do is type a post and it comes out at the same volume.

Back in January, I was at Eastleigh Airport catching a flight to Edinburgh. The squad were there at the same time flying up to Manchester the day before the Utd game. They split into groups in the departure lounge. Lallana leading the yoof. SRL, KD and the oldies. The Spanish speakers and.... Forren, who sat on his own reading his I-phone and then wandering lonely to the back of the queue and not speaking to any of the others.

Possibly reading too much into this at the time, but it was very noticeable.

What a signing of true football knowledge and inspiration by our beloved leader, this is the standard that shall push us in front of Liverpool, Everton and Spurs....................

thought you'd been quiet recently, then as soon as an opportunity comes up for you to start peddling the same old sh*t about the poor quality of our signings you pop up again. Suppose you're about to tell us that with any luck Bologna will take "Gashton" back (by the way using that nickname for him makes you sound like a 12 year old)

Let's be honest it's irritating to see the club spend money on players who aren't up to standard but especially in recent years it's been a rare occurrence, every club signs players who aren't as good as they look at first, even the clubs we're apparently looking to emulate - http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine/features/130623/man-uniteds-five-worst-strikers-over-past-ten-years-–-do-you-agree-200091

I saw Schneiderlin, Fonte, Yoshida and Forren in West Quay. Had a chat with the first 2, Yoshida smiled and nodded. Forren just looked at his phone. Good riddance.

I pulled that trick on someone the other day. Everyone knows it not true that something really important just happened but it is just a quick fix to avoid some inane conversation about the weather, new signings or whatever.

Could there have been a clause that would´ve made us to pay money when he got his first game and therefore with management being unsure if he was up to it in the long run they never gave him a game?

I think Forren got a bit uncertain now when he lost his place in the national team. If he hadn´t done that I suspect he might have persisted until january at least.

Well this transfer doesn´t bother me cause I think the total cost for this can be regarded as small change....
