hugh Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Osvaldo farther and farther from the capital. His absence in Terni is a clear signal that it is working for its[/color]disposal that seems straight. The Argentine striker seems to have opened at Southampton. Interesting that they now refer to him as the 'Argentine' striker.
Chewy Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 This would be actually bonkers if true. Maybe not quite at Keegan level but not far off.
Olallana Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 On the ball..... Alex Goring Crook @alex_crook 50s Looking likely Osvaldo will become #saintsfc player next week. With Lovren and Wanyama that's three excellent additions
saints1988 Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Has anyone seen Osvaldo's career stats? Fantastic goal scoring record, yet he only averages 23 games a season. The most he's ever played was 33 games, in 2005, his first year as a professional footballer. He has been sent of nine times in the last six years, also punched lamela in the face because he did not receive the ball from him in a match
Olallana Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 He has been sent of nine times in the last six years, also punched lamela in the face because he did not receive the ball from him in a match 9 times you say?? http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/pablo-osvaldo/leistungsdaten-detail/spieler_37389.html

skintsaint Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 He has been sent of nine times in the last six years, also punched lamela in the face because he did not receive the ball from him in a match The two players had a tiff after the game and Lamela lobbed a bottle at him which he then punched him. You make is sound like he didnt get a pass from him and lumped him on the pitch.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 He has been sent of nine times in the last six years, also punched lamela in the face because he did not receive the ball from him in a match Sounds like a spoilt brat.... Must be more to the story?

goneawol Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Then math isn´t your thing Bear. I agree with Bear, are you counting the 'two yellows' ?
Olallana Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 I agree with Bear, are you counting the 'two yellows' ? I wasn´t so I stand corrected.....damn those 3.5 beers!!
Nolan Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Oh sorry so he did punch his team mate or not? The guy does sound a bit nuts that's all I am trying to say From Football Italia "It is believed that Osvaldo was initially irritated in the dressing room after the match by Lamela ignoring his complaints about not passing to him and snapped, “I’m older than you and this is not River, answer as I speak.” The former River Plate youngster Lamela reportedly then responded, “Shut your mouth, you’re not Maradona.” At this point it is alleged that Osvaldo went for Lamela and gave him a slap - not a punch as has been originally suggested - before the pair pushed each other a few times prior to teammates intervening."
Saint-Armstrong Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Welcome Pablo. Couldn't give two-hoots if he gets other clubs' feathers ruffled. He's a class player and MP must be sure on him.
Saint Charlie Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Welcome Pablo. Couldn't give two-hoots if he gets other clubs' feathers ruffled. He's a class player and MP must be sure on him. Hasnt signed yet..

Toon Saint Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Probably worth shipping Mayuka out on loan when Pabz arrives as he's not going to get much game time. Would rather see Seager used as fourth choice striker. Kid has talent.
saints_is_the_south Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 As I challenged Simon Peach to do, go and find reports of him causing problems at Espanyol under MP, or at Fiorentina or Bologna before that. I've tried, with no success. I support Roma, he's a great player and I'm convinced he'll be fine here under MP. The living atmosphere here in the Southampton area, compared to that of Rome, is well, incomparable. Really hope we pull It off. Could have stuff like this to enjoy...
Saint_lambden Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 Chapel won't like him We will when he starts scoring. There'll be a few moans about his facial hair, I'm sure.
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 We will when he starts scoring. There'll be a few moans about his facial hair, I'm sure. One bad game and the Northam will be on his back though, dont doubt that
Turkish Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 One bad game and the Northam will be on his back though, dont doubt that I give it 5 games before a 'Pablo watch' or 'is osvaldo worth the money' thread
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 I give it 5 games before a 'Pablo watch' or 'is osvaldo worth the money' thread He'll be quality, but got to give him time...

Turkish Posted 17 August, 2013 Posted 17 August, 2013 He may have been quality in Spain and Italy but how will he do on a wet Tuesday night at Stoke? That's the trouble with these foreigners, we should have got Gary hooper and lee bowyer instead
Bananaman Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Can't believe people questioning his ability. My Mrs is Italian and we watch Italy as much as (if not more than) England. Osvaldo is a class above any striking option we have, consistently in the Italy squad ahead of some great players and a great goal scoring record for a good side in a very tough league.
SaintBobby Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Hope we get him. Would this be the end of our acquisitions if we do? Still think we need someone who can play centre back and left back (but seems trail went cold on Astori?)

Glasgow_Saint Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 http://www.romagiallorossa.it/featured/osvaldo-va-via-oggi-lannuncio/ Osvaldo announcement could come today. Alot of talk about a £3m bonus to join us?
saints_is_the_south Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Alot of talk about a £3m bonus to join us? No bonus. €3m in wages per annum, €18m + performance related bonuses to Roma. I'm sure there'll be some sort of signing on few for him though, and we've probably had to make that pretty hefty too.

Wages seem to have gone up, that may be the reason we are inching towards a deal. Will be on the same sort of cash as Gaston
saints_is_the_south Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Wages seem to have gone up, that may be the reason we are inching towards a deal. Will be on the same sort of cash as Gaston Works out about £49K a week, assuming the €3m is a before tax figure. I thought Ramirez was in about £38.5K, so Osvaldo will be more and almost certainly become our highest paid player.
Saint Charlie Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Would round off our best ever transfer window if we get it over the line. Superb.
Spudders Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Would round off our best ever transfer window if we get it over the line. Superb. This window was always going to be disappointing now that Owen and Beckham have retired.
Gorgiesaint Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 http://www.romagiallorossa.it/featured/osvaldo-va-via-oggi-lannuncio/ Osvaldo announcement could come today. Also says Spurs haven't tried for him, which goes along the lines that some on here were saying that the Roma/Spurs talks were just about Lamela & Pjanic.
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Absolutely love Italy tbh, quite obsessed with the country, have been for ages! Anch'io. My French customer used to say: "I like Italians. They're like a Frenchman but with a sense of humour".
markr27 Posted 18 August, 2013 Posted 18 August, 2013 Should he be given the No.17 shirt IF he does sign, it may indicate Saints are not finished in the window perhaps - leaving 11 free for a winger?
