saints_is_the_south Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Spurs won't sign Osvaldo now they've signed Soldado. They'll be meeting for Lamela, although if Sabatini tries selling him then I'd advise him not to return to Rome.
Mr X Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Didn't Ramirez claim (honestly) that he'd joined us because of the money we were offering him? If so, one would think Cortese would lull Osvaldo in using this same tactic. Money talks. Even if he doesn't particularly want to be here, I think Osvaldo would soon come round to the idea once he sees what we're building here... we don't want another player coming here for the money only and then not being arsed to put the required effort in. Ramirez was a big mistake till he proves me wrong
DuncanRG Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I think Spurs would be wise to bring another striker in.

Turkish Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Would play the Totti role that Osvaldo is used to, I'd think. False 9. Who came up with this false 9 bollo*cks? Was it sky, Talk sport or Soccerball AM or some other sh*te house production? False 9, **** me, its just a player who plays a bit deeper and isn't an out and out centre forward.
Turkish Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Can we have a top 10 of strange things to get angry about? 'Tekkers' is another one. Utterly mongy.'
DuncanRG Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 False 9, **** me, its just a player who plays a bit deeper and isn't an out and out centre forward. A player who stands in the goal and prevents shots from going in using his gloved hands as well as his feet
Turkish Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 A player who stands in the goal and prevents shots from going in using his gloved hands as well as his feet That's a glovesman.
Saint_Ash Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I agree about false 9, really gets on my nerves, what's wrong with saying attacking midfielder?
Le Timmier Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 'Tekkers' is another one. Utterly mongy.' + 1
whelk Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Can we have a top 10 of strange things to get angry about? I too get annoyed with all the false 9 talk. And 'banks of four'
Saint Charlie Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Di Marzio saying the Spurs meeting isnt for Osvaldo but Lamela and Pjanic. Says Roma might also meet with us re Ossie whilst here.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I'd never even heard 'false number 9'. Tekkers is a very useful term to quickly determine who never to talk to again. Same with 'worldy', which is 99% Merson's fault but even MLT is guilty of it now. Most annoying to me is Kamara. If everything is unbelievable, nothing is unbelievable. I used to like Soccer Saturday a lot, but it'd be nice if they could do it without any catchphrases. Not as annoying as the name 'Adrian'.
Turkish Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Not as annoying as the name 'Adrian'. Always reminds me of Mrs Balboa, bit of a girls name.

Smirking_Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I agree about false 9, really gets on my nerves, what's wrong with saying attacking midfielder? They generally arent AMs. False 9 was invented in some glossy new coaching manual in an attempt to explain the way a certain player needs to play. Essentially I reckon someone just said 'he plays just behind the front man, not exactly a number 9' etc bla bla bla There are loads like this and will probably be more as roles evolve etc

Toadhall Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 So would you if you had a girls name. Why - what's yours then?
thorpie the sinner Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 So who is on Osvaldo watch tonight?? Little snippets like 'Who??' when asked if he is going to Saints after game lol!!
Toadhall Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Another Adrian? Very unusual name you have there.
Foxy Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Di Marzio saying the Spurs meeting isnt for Osvaldo but Lamela and Pjanic. Says Roma might also meet with us re Ossie whilst here. Phew, Pjanic over then. Sorry.
Saint Charlie Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Osvaldo starting tonight, hope he has a low key game.
Mr X Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 18 million for a 27 year old seems a lot of money! But maybe that's the going rate now?
Saint Garrett Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 18 million for a 27 year old seems a lot of money! But maybe that's the going rate now? Probably because he is a full fledged international playing for a country who are better than England. How much would Rooney cost?
Pastor Patrón Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Probably because he is a full fledged international playing for a country who are better than England. How much would Rooney cost? This, it seems about right, Rooney would cost about £30mill but has a better record and is more marketable.

DuncanRG Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Probably because he is a full fledged international playing for a country who are better than England. How much would Rooney cost? Not a huge amount more if he was playing in Italy and moving to England. Probably £20-25m.
goneawol Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 The Southampton face seriously for Osvaldo know by day, we told it step by step. Coming soon a written offer to Rome, Pochettino is first on the list, pressing you are highlighting. The Chairman of Southampton is holidaying in Italy, striker's agents in Rome. The last word in Osvaldo: the written offer, it's time for decisions http://www.microsofttranslator.com/BV.aspx?ref=IE8Activity&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alfredopedulla.com%2Farticoli%2F27138-esclusiva-osvaldo-offerta-scritta-del-southampton
Saint Charlie Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Italy 2-0 down to Argentina. Banega just scored!
saints_is_the_south Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Could I make a request? Just post the article in Italian, rather than putting it through a gash translator. There are a few posters on here who speak decent enough Italian (myself included), some fluent (not me!) that can translate far better!
shurlock Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Italy 2-0 down to Argentina. Banega just scored! He's the real crown jewel. £10m for him would be an absolute steal.

Turkish Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Isn't it ironic that on a day we are so ecstatic about our hero scoring for England there is still clamour for us to sign a player who will effectively replace him in our first team.

goneawol Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 I don't think he'll be joining Napoli... http://www.football-italia.net/38355/de-la-osvaldos-not-good-enough
saintedwill Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 False 9, **** me, its just a player who plays a bit deeper and isn't an out and out centre forward. A good false nine can drag a middle defender out of position for the ball striker to nip through and power in a net disturber
Turkish Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 You think? I think we will play Rickie as a false 9. Sometimes to hard to resist m8 I hope you're right, but for one thing MP showed no inclination to play him there last season behind Rodriguez, we won't sign a striker for 20m to sit on the bench. He can play behind Osvaldo and think he'd be good there, I wonder if MP agrees though? I can see him being used more as an option off the bench if Osvaldo joins.
