With us looking odds-on to get either Wanyama or Banega and it just being a question of time, this is a question that has been playing on my mind for weeks. Either way even if both those deals falter we WILL sign a top class CM before the window closes. So out of two of our top three players last season (Rickie being the other), who would YOU drop to accomodate this £10m+ signing, whoever it may be?

Schneiderlin

When either Morgan or Corkie get injured/suspended I will be glad there are others around. When I started watching Saints in 1959 we had a first team and a reserve team. Now I may be wrong but 50 years on I think things have changed ... yes, really! Expecting Morgan and Corkie to play every game next season is just a joke. It is such an important area of the team you have to have strength in depth and that is what our new signing will give us. We need a strong 25 man squad as the demands on players now are so great. At the moment we are several players short of a strong 25 man squad.

For someone who is supposedly 110% Saints I think you are naive, negative and bordering on pathetic. Some of your posts are drivel and I think you need to grow up! I am not one to usually get personal but if you are trully 110% Saints then show it FFS.

Rickie in teh top 3 but no Shaw ? Hmmm

Petered out badly after Adkins left. Easily our best player November-December-mid-January. Never fully recovered from Nige leaving IMO and you could tell by his performances later in the season.

Also possibly burn out/fatigue for a youngster?

Neither.

Not sure why people don't understand that 2 players isn't enough to adequately cover 2 positions for a whole season.

I'd suggest that three players could share c. 66% of the game time. This would keep all three players competing with each other. It would also help us to prevent injuries (like Cork's last season) from costing us points.

It also would work out to be c. 25 games each - about the same amount that Jos, Shaw or Ramirez played last season (in fact, Cork only managed 28 games last season).

As such, all three players would get plenty of opportunities to play, and we would have adequate cover in the defensive midfield slot.

Why do people think either Morgan or Cork need to be dropped?

Play all 3 in some games, say top 5-6 away from home.

All 3 are good enough to play for most teams in top flight football, young and talented, Cork for me could be a Carrick type player and get better and better as he gets older so i would find it hard to drop him.
