So let me get this straight. This story is effectively... 'new player means more competition' - well, yes.

Yoshida said in a presser at the back end of the season that someone would likely come and join us, and that he'd work even harder.

Pochettino did not say Yoshida was "out of favour" during that press conference.
Explain this then Pedant-Man... "I want all of my players to play a big role within this club but unfortunately that's not possible, so all of them will have to earn their position. I wish the best for Maya and the rest of my players," said Pochettino. So - I didn't state MP said "out of favour" - that was my expression - get it?

Agree with MLG.

When you listen, they specifically asked about Yoshida and he spoke generally about every player having to earn a place, he wasn't implying he had fallen from favour.

Ah, I see...it was a misquote from a recorded interview. Understood.

Did I read it right...

Yoshida was playing in the confed cup for 4 weeks, but isn't fit...but that's OK, because he has 10 days left on his holiday

Good backup player if we are honest probably not quite good enough for the level a premiership defender has to be these days

You think? I thought he was very good in the second half of the season. Give him a good, strong partner and another season and I reckon he'd be just fine.

He's as good if not better than Fonte and Jos IMO. He improved over the course of the season too.

but the question is are you describing Jos or Yoshida?

Yoshida although its clear jos as much as I like him is too slow and error prone as well, like someone said yoshi might be alright alongside lovren maybe even the Norwegian will get a game

The guy is superb and surely will be first choice left CB. Talk about a non-story.

It seems to me Jose is the one who should watch out not Yoshi

That's your opinion, it might not be MPS.

I assume you're talking about Yoshida, in which case I disagree as he is marginally behind Hooiveld in the 'error prone' stakes in my view.
