Fox ?

Matt Targett has just signed a pro contract, I must admit I havent seen him play but he could perhaps provide some back up or even competition for Lukes place?.

Fox is reasonable back up for Shaw. Different type of player but decent back up. Same with Guly - good squad player. Won't stop people on here finding any excuse to knock them. That's football.

we should get rid IMO...there are far better options who can be a replacement and willing to fight for a left back berth

if our transfer policy is that we only add players of a higher quality to the ones we have, why would we pay for a better left back than shaw to make one of them sit on the bench?

 

apart from mayuka, and possibly lee, all of our new signings in the last two years have more or less walked into the squad, only lee and mayuka spring to mind and both are technically gifted, just haven't forced their way into the starting line up

 

who is better than fox at cover, but at the same time not as good as shaw, and willing to sit on the bench for most of the season?

Yes but if we are successful this year the reserve left back will probably need to play 10 games or so. Also if Shaw gets injured God forbid we are in deep do do. We need a very decent reserve left back. Also Shaw may lose form and what then? Also Shaw needs competition or his desire may drop a little.

Can't remember but isn't mat targett our other aspiring lb? Heard good reports about him and that he was giving Luke a run for his money coming into the start of last season. Not sure we need 3 lbs plus clyne can do a job at lb if called upon. IMHO we have the position covered.
