Bewildered Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 IS ti really any different to what Adkins used to say? yeah adkins would just give waffle about right players, improve the team, cards close to our chest etc etc and never confirmed or denied anything, though sometimes i wonder how much nige knew himself

Bewildered Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport 2m Pochettinho wouldn't be drawn on Banega, Damiao, or Osvaldo but said "they would all be really happy to come to Southampton".
Colinjb Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 (edited) @alex_crook: Pochettino indicates Tadanari Lee is available for transfer #saintsfc It's clear he isn't good enough for our present ambition.... but still can't help but feel a little disappointed about Lee's time here. As much for Tadanari as for anything he could have offered had injury not interfered. Edited 4 July, 2013 by Colinjb
Bewildered Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 BBC Solent Sport @solentsport 29s >> #saintsfc Pochettinho continued on Banega Osvaldo & Damiao: "..but perhaps we don't have a place for all of them". Seems obvious we won't be signing Banega AND wanyama, or Osvaldo AND Damiao, either or situations.
Toon Saint Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 Good stuff. Probably not a bad idea to publicly re-state our 'ambitions' in transfer market if Wanyama is wavering. Interesting quote about the club 'managing' information about good players as well as the 'timing' of the deals - perhaps a sly nod to Wanyama's sh*t stirring agents. Hatch Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC MP: "Right now, our main concern is preparing for pre-season. We can't think about seven or eight weeks down the line." #saintsfc Shouldn't 7/8 weeks down the line be exactly what they are thinking about. As much for Tadanari as for anything he could have offered had injury not interfered. I think his Saints days were numbered as soon as we got a Japanese player who hadn't had a couple of big injuries who could speak English and was a little more essential to the squad. He doesn't seem to struggle to speak it during matches, but if he's not confident speaking it in front of the media, how accurate are his instructions going to be on a match day in a pressurised time-critical environment ? Hardly the same is it? Issuing instructions to a group of players he works together with every day, or conversing with a group of journalists (many he is probably not familiar with) all eager for a story. Black Sea Saint Posted 5 July, 2013 Share Posted 5 July, 2013 Que????!!!!??? Seriously, I really cannot believe this. You are virtually belittling your profession. Not at all. The Common European Framework for languages breaks the learning process down into 7 levels, each take around 120 hours to complete. Of course, most learners need more time at the mid levels to really master the language. In order to do a press conference in a foreign language you would need a very good level. I would imagine MP is a pretty busy guy, how much time he can dedicate to learning English who knows. But let's say it's 5 hours per week, it's going to take him about three years. sandwichsaint Posted 8 July, 2013 Share Posted 8 July, 2013 Interesting snippet at the weekend, friend of ours is a well known TV footie person (you would know the name) and he was at Poch's pc last week. He said his English hasn't really improved since last year, he said it did improve slightly over the season from when he started but where he has been away in the summer for a few weeks he lapses into his own tongue at home and hasn't been using English in the way he would 'at work' ie around the players. Said Capello was exactly the same - he could use enough English to get by on the training ground, but was never committed enough to learn the language to communicate confidently with the press. He doesn't expect Poch to be using English in the media any time soon. Also says the hype around the club is real, we do have the money, we do have the ambition; he expects us to do very well this season and be in a position to sustain it. buctootim Posted 8 July, 2013 Share Posted 8 July, 2013 English is a very difficult language to learn, we have very unique sentence structures and spellings Correction. It is a very difficult language to learn to speak perfectly without errors. Most English people never master it either. To learn English well enough to make yourself understood, pretty easy compared to most.
