Bucks Saint Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Iniesta rescues former club. Not all of them are money grabbing self obsessed t#ssers then: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/barcelona-news-andres-iniesta-come-2007110
Turkish Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 A decent gesture but a few points here. Firstly its a loan not a gift, secondly, he's a shareholder so if they went into admin he'd lose his shares so would cost him money and thirdly £200k is to him is like us loaning them a couple of hundred quid. Not knocking him for it but its not the selfless gesture it might initially appear.
Bananaman Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 On a slightly unrelated note. Lee Holmes was the nicest footballer I have ever met (all be it not the most famous) really bloody nice bloke.

Yes take some of your points but its not unusual even for the mega wealthy - even Markus turned his loans into equity, rather than a straight gift. His shares must be worthless anyway - tiny club clearly barely solvent, so I dont think his gesture was motivated by that.
Bucks Saint Posted 29 June, 2013 Author Posted 29 June, 2013 Not all footballers are here for the cash. Which many of our current / prospective signings are suggested to be. Plus, if you dont care, dont post. Simple Simo
The Majestic Channon Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Scott minto deserves a mention, he works as a volunteer ferrying old folk about in a minibus. as for the most down to earth i've personally met that would be gordon watson
Viking Warrior Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Nothing to do with saints but this is the lounge . The mirror have spun this story and as someone has already said . It's only a loan and he is a shareholder . Enough said .i wonder if he has an interest clauses added to the loan ?
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Emile Heskey helped to bail out Leicester when they needed help. A great man in my opinion.
Viking Warrior Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Sergei if he did that then fine . But a mate and I went to watch saints up there and after the game we tried to speak to him . He told us to f*** off and had no time for away fans . He had to minders with him . All we were after was his autograph and have few words with him . So you will appreciate I have no time for that donkey
Bucks Saint Posted 30 June, 2013 Author Posted 30 June, 2013 James Beattie once bought me a beer. Ha. So did Neil Heany. After I pointed out he had played crap that day. Top guy though
Tokyo-Saint Posted 30 June, 2013 Posted 30 June, 2013 That is pretty much what I said to Beattie. There could be a pattern here. If you want a free pint, tell a footballer he played **** at the weekend and shouldn't be out drinking. After we had our 'chat' he went on that big scoring spree. I take 73.5% of the credit.
Turkish Posted 30 June, 2013 Posted 30 June, 2013 James Beattie once bought me a beer. No too, was in the Rhino.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 30 June, 2013 Posted 30 June, 2013 Cooler than me on beer top trumps Turks, mine was student night at Ikon.
alpine_saint Posted 30 June, 2013 Posted 30 June, 2013 Of course they are; take a look at the photos from last years Saints hospital visit for proof of that.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 30 June, 2013 Posted 30 June, 2013 Paul mariner was a good bloke, had a few nights out with him as my mate knew him. Don't know if he did any charity stuff, but he liked a bevy, hard rock and had an eye for the ladies.
PhilippineSaint Posted 1 July, 2013 Posted 1 July, 2013 George Best bought me a beer in The Ramada Hotel Dubai after he had played in the Celtic / English champs that year ? game for the the hoops some how managed to get showered and changed and back to the bar from the ground before half the fans got out the ground.
